I could clearly hear the sarcasm when he said that, but I'm a native speaker.
There is a pause, intonation change at the word "liberated". Orally speaking he was putting the sarcasm quotes on the word.
It also helps to have listened to quite a few Simon videos and I've gotten familiar with how he speaks, and he does make regular use of sarcasm, though usually you can see his face at the same time (multiple cues to understanding the sarcasm).
In this case, given the topic, it might have been safer for him to be clearer on what he meant by "liberated". He does get clearer at 19:45 - "Given Chinese treatment of tibet..."

I am from Kashmir and i want independence. And no I don't have any love or care or hate or distaste for Pakistanis like i don't with Indians or Chinese. I hate all three of their governments equally. I would rather be a citizen of a free sovereign nation that doesn't get discriminated against or harassed by the army and the government everyday. Every Kashmiri i know has always wanted independence. I don't know where you get your facts from. The war between India and Pakistan and India and China has nothing to do with us but we are used as cattle for their proxy wars.

Its clear neither India or Pakistan will let go of Kashmir. But it is also pretty clear that India has the upper hand in everything from ammunation to manpower to geopolitical influence over pakistan. And with Pakistan crippling economy, political instability, I don't know how much longer they can hold onto Kashmir. They just have to hope that India somehow goes through the same thing they are so they can gain some upper ground against India, but that does not seem the case atleast in the next half a century.

Let's be honest 90% of human rights violations are done by India, I am a kashmiri myself and have never heard about any major problems that kashmirs have faced in the other part of Kashmir. Now I am not saying that pakis don't do any human rights violations, I am sure they do 10x more than India does but they do none of them because of the Kashmir issue so the admin doesn't have to report them in a video related to Kashmir issue.

Looking in the past won’t solve the problem of present. As an Indian I would say since that 370 article was dismantled, India invest a lot of money on infrastructure of Kashmir and it’s showing very good sign of growth. You can see a lot of tourists vlog about indian Kashmir but for POK situation is very bad as economic conditions in that part making the population very unhappy. Many saying it openly that they want to be part of India as living conditions in Indian Kashmir is many times better than their side. For Chinese, they just want this issue not to be resolved as this will force India to spend lot money and keep the military in the region. Anyway only peace can bring prosperity to the people of Kashmir.

Recent developments are covered in somewhat good manner. Two historical discrepancies are there.
1. In the first war, Pakistan invaded Kashmir. Since Kashmir was not part of India then, India held back any military operations. King of Kashmir signed instrument of succession (a UN recognized tool for merging into a country) with India, then only Indian forces entered Kashmir to defend it against Pakistani aggression. 100% legal merger with India.
2. Regarding referendum - UN asked for a referendum, but the pre-condition was that Pakistan and India withdraw their armies from the region. Pakistan never did. Pakistan has always waged proxy war in the region. Sending its military personnel in clothes of local people. So the referendum never happened.

16:40 Adding more context on Pakistan story (Total joke.) When Pakistan tried to annex Kashmir and India, on signing the treaty with Hari Singh retaliated,
India was the first party to go to UN to resolve the issue. UN then, devised a three step solution for Kashmir.
First - Ceasefire (Both party stopped war at that time.)
Second - Pakistan troops to recede from Kashmir and back to orignal border lines because Pakistan was the aggressor first in the region. (Pakistan never did hence and created PoK or Pakistan Occupied Kashmir)
Third - Plebiscite (Never happened because second part of the solution never happened). You can refer the referendum for more. But this was the gist of it.
The Plebiscite to be conducted gave Kashmiris, 3 choices. To be with India, merge with Pakistan and form their own country. This referendum also served as the first hope of Kashmir to become a country rather than a state in India or Pakistan. Despite what my heart says as an Indian, The decision is their own citizens.

A few things:
1. People of Gilgit Baltistan are ethnically different from rest of Kashmir, Indian Kashmiris are also ethnically different and only about 40k of indian Kashmiris reside in Pakistan's (Azad Kashmir). Pakistani Kashmiris are ethnically Northern Punjabis (Pahari-Pothwaris).
2. Pakistan does treat Kashmiris better in my opinion, They are free to buy land all over Pakistan and have quotes in Federal Government but a Pakistani National cannot buy land or hold any position in Kashmir.
3. During the start of first war of Kashmir both Indian and Pakistani Armies were still under British high command, they both refused to send in regular troops. Pakistan however sent in Pashtun militia instead, they did find some initial success but soon turned into looting and r-ping local Kashmiris they were meant to liberate, This gave Indian side of British command cause to pitch in regular troops while Pakistani side still wasn't able to for a long time, As soon as snows started the Militia started to go home anyway with war loot and they were quite easy pickings for regular Indian Army.

However, let us remember, Communism is practically a secular religion, if not in fact. So... will China make a move based purely on ideology, even though there is not a religious component? Yes, this is quite possible. It's crazy for me to think that just because your a nuclear powered Nation does not mean you're a superpower, also becoming a nuclear powered Nation paints you a Target and usually forces you into some sort of treaty or alliance.
Simply having nuclear weapons has never made a country a superpower.

If you are showing dispute between India China and Pakistan over Kashmir, first show the whole map for Kashmir. Why have you already shown land occupied by China as China? Get your facts right.
