I think we all won. This has been one of the most fun videos I've watched since the pandemic started and I'm so thankful for ya'll putting this together. Cobus, Casey and Sweetwater. Thank you all.
The winner is Nick D’Virgilio because he just showing off his skills as a referee, drummer, and commentator. But, nice work Casey and Cobus amazing drumming 🥁!
As a drummer that doesn't follow either of these guys, I can objectively say it's not even close between these two. Cobus has way better stick technique, wrist strength, and timing......which is most important. Not too mention he obviously has better chops and feel.

This means a lot for us who grew up watching these two. This seems like a throwback to the good old 2000s' and 2010s' when we were still trying to learn drums while being absolutely awed by Cobus' and Cooper's covers. Cobus showed us the beast behind his incredibly methodological and versatile playing prowess and totally deserved the win, but Cooper put up a good show as well by keeping up and displaying his hard-hitting playing style! These two are incredibly amazing drummers, and I'd love to see them do more stuff together in the future.
What an absolute insane pair of drummers. While I am on team Cobus (Quibbius) as he was the guy who inspired me to play drums. Seeing a different style of drummers come together for a bit of fun and make possibly the funniest drumming video other than Mike Portnoy... Bravo. Quibbius has been unbelievably unlucky with the TH-cam algorithm, and I admit seeing Cooper rise on TH-cam while my hero didn't have the same stardom made me a bit biased. I wasn't a fan of Cooper. This changed my mind completely. While I wish Quibbius had the same Stardom as Cooper, fuck me Cooper is insane. They both deserve to be praised. If you're a fan of Quibbius then go support Cooper. If you're a fan of Cooper, go show Quibbius some love. I guarantee it'll be worth it. Both these guys are unbelievable.
I didn't even realize there was a competition, I just paused right before round 3 to give my opinion, And when Nick joined that was Goldust for me. Sorry im a month late, Don't care about the competition, all I said above still stands. Any drummer who has lost their inspiration has won this competition. I have to give this one to Casey. I thought his fills just flowed the best throughout and his technical side really showed up. But the best part was around minute 24 when they were in sync with their fills. It was crazy good to watch.
I backed Cobus ever since I heard about this, and after watching, I still fully believe he won this. That said, Cooper earned some of my respect - he did far better than I expected him to in all of this. Also, Nick killed it - drumming and otherwise! Regardless of the outcome here, which I'm sure this was all setup and scripted, Cobus is most definitely a more skilled player than Cooper. Not to belittle Coopers abilities in anyway. This is just my opinion, of course. They're both super talented, and have been a source of inspiration for me personally for many years. Awesome playing, bros. You never disappoint. 🤘🥁🤘

And that “LLLLLET’S GET READY TO DRUM ROOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!! And on top of that, he’s wearing a tux!!! As far as I’m concerned, Nick won this hands down!!!!
Singles on double bass is something you definitely have to practice regularly to maintain, but I'm genuinely surprised to know he mostly does doubles on double bass!
Cobus cobus! They both have a special place in my drumming heart, But I watch cobus first and been watching him longer. All the videos he would record at a church super late at night and just had a huge impact on my life.
Cooper is no slouch and I think he gets unfairly labeled as a showman with mediocre abilities, but yeah overall Cobus is more skilled. Nick is better than both of them though.
People need to realise that Cooper and Cobus have different posture and different technique. Cooper has longer arms and legs so his posture LOOKS like he's less technical, but that's far from the case. Cobus just "fits" better behind the kit and to everyone he seems cleaner than Casey. But the fact is, they're on a very very similar level and are both very gifted drummers. For this battle, my vote goes to Cobus by a hair!
i was thinking the ref was gonna raise his hands and declare himself winner lol. on a serious note this was BEAUTIFULLY done. everything about this was fantastic i couldn’t stop smiling the whole way through. two amazing drummers. well done 👍

Both drummers are freaking amazing. I've been a huge Cobus fan for years, but it looks like there may be a shift in loyalty here. I have to give this to Casey Cooper. I can't believe Cobus didn't know the iconic Van Halen intro. Either way, both of these guys are amazing.

Great work setting this up, Sweetwater! This was much more entertaining to watch than a straightforward drum-off. Loved the various challenges they had to do and those giant sticks! Fairly even throughout but I pick Cobus as the winner.
5:44 - 5:54 Cobus’ overall dynamic awareness is a little more evident throughout the battle. Casey’s power and confidence did play in his favour though. 8:07 Cobus reveals a slight weakness (like we all have) which is singles on double bass. He compensates this with crazy speed on heel-toe doubles shown on quite a few of his videos. 9:56 - 10:04 another example of what I mean about dynamics; Casey didn’t look as comfortable as Cobus but, once again, redeemed himself on his next opportunity at 10:08 with power, confidence and great showmanship. The funk track that Casey played at 11:32 was, in my opinion, his best display of dynamic awareness; very well executed. 19:59 the stank face that began to set Cobus on the right path to winning this this battle... 22:13 in my opinion, Cobus’ best display of dynamics! 23:08 my favorite fill played by Casey! 23:43 without a doubt, the stank face that gave Cobus the victory... Loved this. One of the many reasons that Sweetwater rocks!
I declare myself the winner, for being able to have witnessed this!!!! If we’re giving out second place trophies though, I suppose the Glorious and Majestic Cobus gets that one.
I did appreciate a lot of the fills and grooves of both these guys.
With love for both sides, I am bound by my conscience to give Cobus the win.
Gotta love the guy's chops and tightness ❤️
Cobus was being modest. He's a way better player than what he showed here.
We know right! If he had thrown up those Kelly Clarkson crossovers then no comparison
So you're saying that Cobus wasn't even show his full potential also I'm just wondering if Cooper could "sharingan" cobus crossovers lol.
@@mistergenin21 There are some other things that Cobus has done are unmatched. Or simpler, even his double bass patterns or single pedal slide technique are very hard to do at that perfection.

I've been watching Cobus since 2008 and I would say that the way Cobus plays is really unique and elegance also cleanliness is one of his greatest perk.
@@mistergenin21 Hey, I found an og fan, I have been watching him since 2009 when I accidentally saw his Kelly Clarkson cover video, and all the points you mentioned are absolutely true and plus, he's very smooth around the toms unlike Cooper who just hits then like a maniac.
That was insane. Nice one for setting this one up, SW! Got nothing but respect for both of these wood-wielding wizards, BUT, our vote goes to Cobus on this one. What a legend! This was hella exciting, both won in different ways.
Omg im such a fan of both of these gentlemen...
Thank u so much nick and SWEETWATER.
O YEA WE NEED MORE COWBELL:)!
🐮🤘
All of us are the winners, that was so fun! Slight edge in my book to Casey. Double bass with no throne? Come on!
I absolutely loved this. Been following Cobus the entirety of my drum career and discovered Cooper not long after. Both fantastic drummer that have inspired me. 😁
Great "enemies" lead up and promo's to a good-hearted drum battle! Personally, I think it was the one-handed "handcuff" challenge that won it for Cobus! hahahaha! I'd like to see more "friendly enemies" drum battles! The world could use the "friendly enemies" message! Although pretty even, Cobus for the win! And hat's off to the production crew and team that created this battle!
I think this was a fair fight! All rounds tight with a close and difficult decision! But I got to agree with the judges! Cobus did a lil bit better. But the true true winner was Nick D'Virgilio! Awesome drummer!!
"That was the most rock sounding jazz I've ever heard"- Cobus Potgeiter 2021
Overall, super fun to watch! These guys humble me as a drummer so to see them fall apart in some areas makes me feel better about my abilities. 😁 Hard to pick a winner, but I'm going with Cooper. That said, the one-armed drumming by Cobus was impressive.
