I’m glad someone is finally taking on the “defeatist” mentality (e.g., I knew we wouldn’t get him, we wasted our time, etc.). You’re exactly right! If you want the best recruits, you have to be willing to put yourself out there and go after them. It’s amazing we’re even in it with some of these guys after 3 losing seasons, but Hugh has that alpha dog mentality. I don’t want to hear it from these same folks who say we shouldn’t even go after these big dogs once we start winning!

Hoping Freeze goes to get Duece. I'm just not a Lacey fan. He would look good in the class as far as recruiting around him as a star QB. I just don't think he is or will be the guy. Any of us can dump screens to Ryan Williams get 65yds passing off one play. He freaked out under the pressure and bright lights in the ship as well.
He threw for 3400 yards and 42 tds last year. RW had 1300 yards receiving. "Dumping screens" to RW means you didn't watch much of his games. He also threw for nearly 400 yards and completed 70% of his passes in the championship game. What are you talking about? The last. drive was on Jeff Kelly - C5
@@AuburnDaily_ Watched Duece look much better than him with far less talent. Only had this feeling after watching 3 QBs Auburn was after. The other 2 changed positions they were so bad. I just think he is more a product of system and whats around him than an actual game changer. Honestly, I hope I'm wrong and he does great things at AU or wherever he ends up. Revisit this in 3yrs. I doubt he is even at te school he signs with by then.

I never understood the JuJu hype. We currently have an Auburn man sitting on the bench with a very high ceiling and fits Freeze's offense perfectly. JuJu isn't even an RPO QB.

@@AuburnDaily_ I still don’t get the draw for USC beyond their success with developing QBs. We’ve seen Hugh make a career out of doing more with less at the QB position, and the supporting cast at Auburn is unquestionably better. Add in the huge difference in income tax and distance from home, plus the huge disparity in travel to away games. I just think he could do all the same things he wants to do elsewhere at Auburn, without nearly the amount of sacrifices. Then again, it’s nice to have some sense of finality to this situation. It was exhausting last cycle to watch the Ryan Williams saga play out. Just would be nice to be on the winning side of one of these very high profile, long, drawn out recruitments. Especially for a game changing QB. There will always be another opportunity in the future, though!
But is he worth the 1.2 million he wanted.

I hope these guys just over played their position. And he ends up signing with us. Anyone who says he wouldn’t have had a SIGNIFICANT impact on this class is out of their mind. Anytime you can sign a 5* QB it’s a big deal. I do not feel like it will kill our class or our future if he doesn’t sign with us. He is not a generational talent. He is an excellent qb. But he isn’t a generational qb. Also even if we signed him, he likely transfers before he gets on the field. He is about to enter his sr year. Should be entering his jr year. His body would take at least a year or two of college strength and conditioning to get his body ready for SEC play. He likely wouldn’t of stuck around anyway
