as it turns out, this siren is an original install from 1976, whereas all the other cs8s are from the 90s, so a bit more wear on it. same logic could be applied to broadmoor as the main hospital siren will be turning 75 years old in 2027

This might be a bit of a long shot but now since all of the Carstairs sirens have been filmed, would you possibly be able to film near to the hospital during a test to see if there is actually a siren there? It's been bugging me because it's known there was a siren there at one point but if it is still there or if it got replaced is a mystery. I was thinking the other day about it actually. The other two nearest sirens are so close that it could be a possibility that the hospital siren was moved from the hospital to another location and although it is unlikely it could explain why the siren at Carstairs junction is so clean looking...
Nah the one at the junction has always been there. And as far as I know yes there is definitely one at the hospital hidden away deep in the grounds and damn right im gonna get that one too lol well the audio at least 🔉😜
The Carstairs Junction siren is absolutely battered if seen from the right angle. The trees has saved it from fading via sunlight and rain induced corrosion, but the top is covered in tree stuff. As for the hospital siren itself, I have a suspicion I might be able to locate it with the right viewing angles and sufficient time to explore all the possibilities.
Ah right, sounds great. I've done pretty much as much research as I can from google earth for the hospital but you can't beat getting a look in person. I would do it myself but I'm from the south east of england so pretty much the opposite end of the country 😂. It would be interesting to hear what it sounds like anyway, as we know what it would of sounded like (CS8, so shutters on wind down) but if you can get the recording you can tell if it has been replaced as I doubt they would be able to source another CS8 to replace it as production of them stopped in the early 2000s.
