Native of Hope mills myself. Let me give you a little history on the quiet street you visited in south main. Well in the early 1900's it was known as a mill town for its cotton mills dating back to the civil war. It was also a a very dangerous place during the prohibition times. People were people back then as they are now. Meaning, it was common for drunkenness and mischief to take place. I heard these tales of history from the old timers who have come and gone. overall Hope mills has history and it is deep rooted in the people who live here. I love the people and i love the history behind it.

That is very interesting. I wonder how many people know the history or would be willing to talk about it. I think the coolest part of living in North Carolina is all the history this state has.

Hope Mills is a great town. I would even check out Grays Creek as well, which isn't that far from Hope Mills proper.

Chris Bledsoe brought me here. Chris lives right on the Hope Mills Lake and has recorded hundreds of orbs/UFO’s. He’s actually a conduit for these beautiful anomaly’s in the sky/water. These orbs have healed Chris of serious life threatening biological issues within his body. I’m interested in seeing this first hand and have been considering moving down from Michigan just for this incredible opportunity to experience it for myself. Are there any locals out there from Hope Mills that can attest to the fantastic stories I’ve seen and heard over the years??? I would love to hear other’s testimonies of what they have witnessed.

We are thinking of retiring to Hope Mills. From freezing-cold, expensive Illinois.

Hope Mills is a great area. It is close to I-95 so Raleigh is a quick trip and it is easy to go south as well.

Very limited parking and the fishing at the dock is terrible. About the only fun thing to do at that lake is to go there when its not busy and take a kayak to the back portion of the lake to fish or just paddle around.

There is swimming in the summer and a food place but I agree parking is limited. However, it is nice that the lake is in the center of town.

Do they allow dogs there? Thanks!

As far as I know they do. There is not a dog park so you have to keep them on a leash.

Hi! Im considering moving there with my kids... do you still live there? Do you like it? I was in Fayetteville for a few months in 2021 and liked it so i wanted to go back and make it "home" to raise my kids. But now ive heard that its full of crime... i didnt encounter any issues but now im concerned. Im a veteran so i liked being in the diverse environment and having access to the base... is the base nice? Im in MD, so i use Andrews AFB often and the youth sports so im hoping there is nice. Sorry for all the questions, its challenging to find normal ppl reviews and not realtors lol.

I do still live here at the moment. I am trying to leave to be honest. My view is a little different because I spent 21 years here and I do not have kids, so take it with a grain of salt. I do think the crime is getting worse here, or maybe it's because of social media always having it on display . Hope Mills is a nice town, but there is not much to do here. As far as Hope Mills proper, the lake is really the only outdoor activity to do. There is an old golf course that is now a walking trail and hope mills takes their recreational baseball serious. The Hope Mills park has the typical 4th of July and New Years Festival where they have concerts, food trucks, and fireworks. Fayetteville is still the biggest source of entertainment with the baseball stadium, downtown festivals, crown coliseum, etc. And it is only about 15 minutes away. As far as the base goes, it's definitely not an air force base so keep that in mind. However, it's the only one I have been on so I guess it's nice. It is huge from what other people say. It's basically another town with a couple commissaries, it's own hospital, multiple clinics, a mini mall, etc. If you have specific questions, I will do my best to answer them.
