Great insights on this very interesting "what if"!! I agree that Elizabeth did not consider Catherine her equal, so the logistics of such a meeting would have been challenging.. And she also wanted to keep her at arm's length somewhat, while she stalled with the marriage discussions.. though Catherine def would have loved the opportunity to further promote any of her sons to Elizabeth in person!
I just watched episode 3 and as a fellow historian (my thesis was on the socio-cultural impact of the french revolution outside of paris, being an expert on the age of enligtenment overall) I was so utterly disappointed. I know it's supposed to be historical fiction, but the political agenda of our days is showing and I hate it. They assasinate characters that aren't alive and can't speak for themselves anymore. It's horrible! I get the "women were better than men if only they would of ruled" bs they're trying to sell, but it makes the actual women look weak! That's unfair. I hate every second of that bs.
I know that it's a very random question, but does anyone else watch the Serpent Queen on Stan, and did it give anyone the option for subtitles in the most recent episode? I watch it from Australia on Stan, and every other episode has had subtitles, though this last episode didn't 🤔
I think there would have been some contention. Catherine’s too much of an alpha female and she has a big ego. Whereas Elizabeth had to deal with that alpha ego in her dad
Sorry, do you not think Elizabeth also had an enormous ego? Monarchs man. They have to continuously remind people who's top dog. Very few monarchs in this time period can be considered humble!
@@SplatterInker Elizabeth….definitely had a level of an ego as a monarch. I think to rule a county, you have to have a certain degree of ego and we can’t forget that she had inherited mom’s temper but I just feel Catherine was more ruthlessly ambitious
I've just finished Blood, fire & gold and I absolutely LOVED it❤ I wanted to know more about their relationship after watching Elizabeth R😊
great video fantastic knowledge and also the worlds loveliest accent

It's such a shame Elizabeth never met Catherine de Medici or Mary, Queen of Scots.

0:30 The Great did the same though
I miss The Great 😭
This is interesting
Why not a meeting like The Cloth of Gold, or Field of Gold.
On the reign series they also met😂
