being independent with a major distributor or major label helping they basically let you have the freedom of recording uh you'll generally get to keep your masters and that’s cool 😎 keeping your master tape recording while being an independent artist.
I was just looking through my communications in my latest contract and couldn’t find who they use. I know for sure it’s not cdbaby or Distrokid. They use one for digital, and a different one for physical though, I think. I’ll do some digging!
@@AdamMeckler hey Adam, by any chance, have you researched which distro is the best or one of the best for indie record labels to distribute recorded music ? I’m starting my own small independent record label and needed to make sure I get it right
You also get to keep the masters of the recording and have a major funding but for independent record label you get to keep the mastering recording and that’s true.
@@humphreyjean-louis8266 Sorry I missed this. This is a standard artist contract. They have options to buy into press and promotion/distribution. They do some distribution as a part of the standard contract, but they have promo packages you can buy to have them pitch reviews from publications/radio etc.
@@humphreyjean-louis8266 I'll often hire a publicist outside of the label, too. I have another episode on the Gig Boss Podcast called "should I hire a publicist?" where I talk about it at length.
Great video. Thanks!
Hey Thanks!
Keep up the good work

Thanks for letting us see whats under the hood🤘
My pleasure, happy to help!
@@AdamMeckler I've meaning to ask, was that a P&D contract or a standard artist contract? for clarity
