    The Lord's is SO accurate that is a documentary of how a whole (not small) faction ate, spoke, (non) thought and lived through the day, 1949 to early 60's. Of all the scenes, the jewelry store scene is by far the most accurate.

    Perry King sure looks very handsome.

    It's been years since I've seen this film. I have a completely different take on it now.
    While the film never quite manages to suspend disbelief, (certain songs and musical arrangements make you very aware that it is the 1970's and not the 1950's).
    Even so, there are so many charming scenes and fresh youthful faces to carry you away.
    The films first 1/2 hour was edited very well to capture a pace that gets you interested.
    I think what else this film managed to capture was some of the background energy of the sexual revolution that was in full swing at the time.
    With all of those undertones at play, what came out was a film containing a lot of social commentary about young people's lives in the early to mid 1970's.
    MASH did the same thing first (albeit intentionally) by providing social commentary on the Vietnam war while it was happening, by simply telling the story from the backdrop of the Korean war conflict.

    This is exactly what Henry Winkler should have done with the Fonz. Instead of saying the Fonz was everything he wasn't in real life and instead of never returning to the character nor an impression, he should have done exactly what Mr. King did at the beginning. Bringing the character to life makes everyone happy and there is nothing to lose. Apparently not for Winkler. You know how nuts everyone would go to see an older Fonz popping on screen with the laid back spirit and charisma? No. The guy just had to do a reverse mortgage commercial as himself instead. Unbelievable.

    It's not fair; men get b etter looking with age. But, then again, I always thought Perry King was hot. He's not exactly telling the truth about how he got the part. Sly and Richard Gere couldn't stand each other, so they recast Gere's part, picking Sly over Gere. Both ended up well, I have to say. I don't know where Perry was in the mix at the beginning, but the whole script was set for Sly and Gere..www.theshiznit.co.uk/feature/in-pictures-why-sly-stallone-and-richard-gere-dont-get-on.php

    • @chiefscheider
      @chiefscheider 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't say they get 'better' looking, but some men age better than others. Some, like Matthew Perry and Brendan Fraser, let themselves go and look older than their years. Then you've got guys like Pitt and Cruise who have aged great. But I would agree that most men age better than women.
