... actually mari didn't die from the stairs... she died from the hanging... her eyes were closed... then basil stopped what he was doing and sunny looked behind him... Mari had one eye wide open. That morphed into the something.

Although she did have an eye open she probably would've died from the violin if they just left her and didn't hang her. Falling on wood, shattered sharp pieces no less from a standing point can be very painful (Mari fell fell from the stairs which is worse) and take it in Mari went head first on the shattered violin, thus her hair strands in it when we find it. Although it says only scratches in the description of a photo of the accident the real stuff was most likely covered by hair.

Mari fell down the stairs headfirst, on top of sharp shards of wood from the violin. She would’ve died there, not to mention that her neck snapped at that point as well. It’s also pretty common for dead bodies to have open eyes.

No Mari did die from falling down the stairs, normally the reason peoples eyes open after death is because the muscles are no longer working, you need to use muscles to move your eye lids, but once you die you usually open your eyes, also I don’t mean to be rude I’m just saying because this is false information
Not to mention if she did wake up during the hanging she would be struggling to breath, you’re saying she WOKE UP during it and opened her eyes, but if she woke up she would probably be trying to get the rope off her neck.

mari died from the stairs, during one part of the game when you learn the truth or smth, when you interact with the bed mari is lying on, it says "it is not alive"
