It is possible, but harder than turning the tablet. I have to do it this way, because I play with my tablet in a stand.

It doesn't really hurt, because the glass on the display in iPad 2 is thick, it acts like a drum! Even though the sound is loud, I don't actually hit the screen hard

Rotating your ipad around is one way but if you switch your fingers between the arcs fast enough you won't lose notes too
Or,, put your ipad on a small table and go around it lol
About the spin part, if u switch hand then before that, use some fingers, put on the sky arc then after It spin one round, use the switch fingerz
