    For everyone attempting this with octane render i found a way to achieve the same effect. Just placing an octane tab on the mospline won't work. So follow all the steps and then create a sweep and place inside it the mospline and a circle. Then, and only then, you can apply the material to the sweep. I've tried this for a whole morning and this seems to be the only way with octane render.

    Amazing as always! Loving the Arnold tuts! Would love to take a look at the atmospheric scattering node editor and how you went about creating the sun. Regardless, keep the great Arnold tutorials coming!

      Arnold is the best!
      The sun actually gets a lot of it's look from atmospheric scattering. Other than that it's just a disc light with the colour temperature animated.

      Landscape is just a few regular old landscape objects, twisted out of and into shape. The city is even more basic. It's a bunch of cubes with a satellite image of a city at night as a texture... XD

    Really great tutorial Daniel. It would be very great of you if you can tell me how you got that nice blue sky and how you achieved that daytime clouds timelapse shown in a preview. Thanks!!

    • @DanielDanielsson
      @DanielDanielsson  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The clouds is some time lapse footage of real clouds I composited in post. The blue sky is simply a massive blue light shining through the Atmospheric Volume in the scene!

    Very cool. I tried myself but couldnt figure it out. I don´t have Arnold Render so i tried with a Sweep Nurbs and add a material with Colorize(added a lot of colours) and Color Shader with Multiply mode. But can´t get it to work.

    • @DanielDanielsson
      @DanielDanielsson  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like the right way to go, what part doesn't work?

    • @alflud
      @alflud 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You could separate each individual sweep and throw them all into a cloner. If you end up with 30 sweeps then set the cloner to 30 clones and it will run through each one only once. Use the cloner to assign an index number to each spline and then use the multi-shader to vary the colors.
      Another approach might be to use the hair module. Instead of creating geometry you could apply a hair material and hair render tag to your traced spline. In the hair material you can then adjust the thickness/color/stroke of the material to suit but I'm not too sure about the color variation on each individual spline - that might be difficult to do with a hair mat since there's no multi-shader available there.

    Daniel, hello! Thank's for the very cool tutorials! I have one question, do you use redshift render? It's very fast GPU render, but there are not enough lessons on TH-cam. Can you a make tutorial on this render?

    • @DanielDanielsson
      @DanielDanielsson  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does seem very good. Unfortunately I don't have the GPU to support it... Otherwise I might be all over that.

    we are newbie. we dont use arnold, so cant see material in render placed on tracer. Pl, advise

    • @DanielDanielsson
      @DanielDanielsson  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For it to show up in standard renderer you can turn the tracer to geometry: Simply put the Tracer in a Sweep Nurb with a Circle Object, then add materials as you normally would. (You probably want to change the "Intermediate Points" to None in the Circle Object for the sake of speed though.)

    Nice tipp using mograph spline object for animating the splines length. I would have used x-particles. But it is always good to know several ways just in case a client or colleague does not have a certain plugin ;-)

    • @DanielDanielsson
      @DanielDanielsson  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Or in my case: using a render farm which freaks the tracer the fuark out when nodes randomise frame order - pro2-bar-s3-cdn-cf3.myportfolio.com/cbed12fe68e7a53d041016f742b1630c/ec240b517a9ce049a829ddecbaff105f2d7b2bf61f669f435e44a52224c42c140279e8415249387d_rw_1920.jpg

    Hey man, great tutorial!
    I was able to follow and everything in my C4D looks like how you set it up but I don't see the stars for some reason when I render.
    I have Arnold (installed it just for this), and my renderer is set to Arnold but when I try to render it gives me an error saying it's missing the radius parameter.
    Any idea what the problem could be? My tracer has the Arnold Parameters tag.

    • @DanielDanielsson
      @DanielDanielsson  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm guessing it has something to do with the tracer. Tracers can be a bit tricky to render properly when things are animated. Did you try the MoSpline setup?

    • @jonmaster2143
