    Excellent info! I bought out a gentleman’s fish room a few years ago and received the best piece of driftwood! I used to complain about the tannins it gave off but I never had a sick fish!!

    That reminds me that I still haven't got round to ordering more leaves from Thailand - I normally get 3000-4000 at a time and I'm out of the large ones at present which is why I haven't got any on the website and also why I sent you that big bag of leaves which came the wrong size.
    They are very good for shrimp and blackwater fish.

    I have seen on other sites that the tannins are supposed to be good for the fish.

    Hi Mark, i breed angels and put these leaves in with the fry, much better than adding chemicals. I've read that you can also use oak and maple leaves, what do you reckon. I also use boiling water on my leaves which i believe helps reduce mould growing on the leaves.

    Hey Mark! How would you go about preping fresh Indian almond leaves for a shrimp tank? or should i stick with the browning leaves? (I've got a couple huge trees in my area)

    • @MARKSAQUATICS
      @MARKSAQUATICS  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ryan. You could steam or boil them and soften them up and feed like that. Thats very handy having your own free supply 👍😀

    Hi Mark, I'm looking to keep crystal reds in the near future. I am currently looking into using RO water and was wondering how you maintain a stable pH if your KH is 0?

    • @MARKSAQUATICS
      @MARKSAQUATICS  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brock. If using RO water you will have to re mineralize it before use. You can use different substrate, wood and almond leaves to change and stabilize ph.

    Mark, you mention anti-fungal properties of the Catappa leaves. You also said "antibacterial." Is there any danger of it killing off my nitrosomonas and nitrobacter?

    Charlie Hobbs from Bellflower California here. Question Mr Mark I have a piece of wood I've been soaking for awhile now for my fish shrimp tank. One cool piece has a burnt side. Will the burnt side of the wood harm the shrimp/fish?

    Can I ask about TDS pens please? I bought one off eBay. It doesn't auto calibrate or have a manual calibration setting. Is this ok? Or should I pay for a better meter? If so...could you recommend any please?

    • @MARKSAQUATICS
      @MARKSAQUATICS  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. You could take it to your local fish store and check it against one of theres first. But the best thing to do is buy one that you can calibrate so you can get spot on readings. There's is a lot out there and they vary in price .

      MARK'S AQUATICS thank you so much! What do I win a big smile from you? I was looking for the video that said what it was and I never found it. Thank you for telling me because yeah it was bugging me! I really like to see her what's the name of the video that you showed her? I have seven males! Each one in a 3 gallon critter keeper Twice a week water changes are killing me 😂 that's not to mention my two 50 gallons, my 35 gallon Hex my 20 gallon and my two 5 gallons of fish! I just started this hobby seriously in July i've had a feeder goldfish that's grew huge why I ended up with bigger and bigger aquariums because he outgrew everything he was in. Then I found a home in a pond and continued with the hobby I love it

      @MARKSAQUATICS  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😀 I never really did any video of her, she sadly passed away about 3 weeks ago 😞 but had a good life. Sounds like your getting hooked on the hobby! I've been in the hobby for 40 years and I'm still love it.👍😀
