Bud Grant was first player to be inducted in nfl and cfl as a pro bowl receiver for eagles and blue bombers and head coach of blue bombers and nfl Vikings. He also only play to play in nba finals and hit a game winning shot for Minneapolis lakers in nba finals. Back than the cfl paid more than nfl fun fact. Warren moon was greatest non drafted player. Not because he couldn’t play but style he played at Washington nfl wasn’t evolved into spread offenses other than landrys cowboys. His time in cfl was exceptional.
Bobby Singh (born November 21, 1975) is a retired professional American and Canadian football guard. He was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the first round of the 1999 CFL Draft. Singh has the distinction of being the only player in football history to have won an XFL Championship, a Super Bowl, and a Grey Cup
I'm surprised James Harrison from the steelers wasn't on this list. He was probably still playing when this came out but still a insane career
I’m with you but what about Donnie Shell? Undrafted in the Steelers draft class of 1974. The greatest draft by any team in NFL history. Finally in the HOF where he belongs. Should have been inducted years ago.

Kurt Warner. I am one of a handful of NFL Europe fans (when it still existed) and I used to go to the Amsterdam Admirals games in the late 90's. I got a chance to speak to him once, and been rooting for him ever since. His story has been an inspiration to me. He is the athlete who comes to mind when I think of "never giving up".

Did anyone stop to consider Donnie Shell? He played 14 seasons, 5 Pro Bowls, 51 career interceptions for probably the greatest defensive team in NFL history. Leaving him off this list is a travesty.
They really only did this list for Romo. They can't get enough of him.

I met Rod Smith in person several months ago- I work for a plumbing company and got a call to his house. As good of a player as he was (HOF'er in my opinion) he's an even better person. Treats everyone with kindness and respect- he invited my family to come hang out at his pool, gave me a VERY generous and unnecessary tip when I finished up, and was in line with everyone else to get his COVID vaccine at the local King Soopers, happily chatting with everyone. He is a special person and a hero: particularly in the Denver area. Total class act. Probably the coolest, most authentic person I've ever met in my life.

If Warren Moon had not played 5 or 6 years in the CFL he would have been even more of a monster with his NFL stats. I was at UW when he was there.
Scouts screwed that up. He had high draft pick written all over him with the stats he put up in college. But they weren't good enough for him to get drafted.
Maybe have been more towards the cultural tolerance.

What? His college stats were mediocre. He averaged 1100 yards, 49% completion, 7 tds and 6 ints. That was his college average.

Kurt Warner won offensive player of the year in his college conference and went undefeated. To blame racism for Moon not be drafted is wrong. His college numbers are the reason. Another posted stated that his stats had high draft pick written all over him, not even close to the truth.

Warner's last season with the Giants (2004) started out with Kurt on fire with a surprising 4-1, 5-2 start. But after two more loses making them 5-4, Caughlin put in Manning who went 0-6 until the last game of the season. The turn-overs were systemic even with Eli at the helm, so it's a little much to say Kurt did NOTHING in New York. They did go from last in the NFC East to 2nd behind the SB-bound Eagles.

Kurt broke the base of his throwing hand during the Superbowl with the cheap-shot unethical Patriots. It took him a long time to get the hand strength back. Kind of makes me wonder if the officials had been honest and did their job that day, what Kurt would have become. Clearly he had the talent and leadership skills. He took two no-name teams the the superbowl.
but do u know WHY Eli was able to go 0-6? It was because Kurt told Coughlin NOT to come back to him regardless of whatever. He told Coughlin that the kid would figure it out and to stick with Eli. He saw the talent. What a great man.

They tend to oversimplify things on these for the sake of TV. Their "QB Teases" video, they boil down Vince Ferragamo's return to the Rams from the CFL as "he fizzled", when 1982 and 1983, he actually did pretty decently, on par with his personal play stats, and did basically the same save the wins column, but he broke a finger on his throwing hand in 1984, traded to the Rams given Dickerson was THE point on that team, so they couldn't afford to keep a traditional high end QB and RB, and then Jim Kelly finally signed after Ferragamo got hurt again in 1985.
I'm from Edmonton and everyone still remembers Warren Moon as the greatest. 5 Championships he won for us member of the Canadian football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame.

While I've always been a Blue Bombers fan and was too young to remember Warren's playing days (he won his first Grey Cup when I was 4 months old 😂) he was and continues to be a legendary figure in the CFL... and while I love both leagues (Go Packers!), the NFL's mistake was a boon to our game up north.
Romo is incredible as an announcer. As an Eagles fan I hated him, but now I have a lot of respect for him.

As a life long Tom Landry fan, I still respected the Eagles. And their FANS. Their humor is unsurpassed. I still remember an Eagle fan, forget the name, in his Will asking for 6 Eagles players to be his pall bearers ... so the Eagles could *let him down one last time.* The poor fan died the year before the Eagles won it all.

Hard to argue with this list but a personal favorite is Dave Krieg; he had an 18 year QB career, 3 time pro bowler, and went to a college so tiny (Milton) that it went out of business shortly after he made the Seahawks and people barely noticed.
Dude really had one of those great lengthy QB careers like Moon, Brady, rogers etc. might not be in their league but he was a starter most of his career and led a lot of teams into the playoffs.
Agreed. Kreig was a better than average QB in a league where those aren't exactly a dime a dozen.

When DAVE KRIEG retired, his stats put him in a list of quarterbacks I remember seeing, and EVERYBODY on the list, except Testaverde, were in the Hall of Fame. # 17 gave this 'Hawks fan a lot of great games and thrilling comebacks.
19 seasons almost 38,000 yards 266 TDS. Wish he had gotten 300 TDS but his 266 is respectable for sure. It was a pleasure watching him and mudbone is a humble man and not full of himself.
To have John randle, Kurt Warner and Antonio gates go undrafted............I have to completely rethink the entire process of the combine and draft. How many other players have they missed?
Gates was playing basketball at the time, so it was easy to miss him. Randle and Warner: WTF were they thinking?
With Randle, he was an extremely undersized defensive tackle from a small Texas division 2 school. With Warner, he was an unimpressive QB prospect from small division 1 Northern Iowa. The NFL draft scouts usually look for guys from big time programs with freaky athletic traits and elite statistical outputs, and as such some great talent falls through the cracks sometimes...

Six one hundred yard games to start the season...Nobody had ever had five before Thielen. I really hope he gets seven just to show the overpaid underachievers what real heart can accomplish.
Hope so, he has a few more seasons like this and he will be.
I still remember when The Houston Oilers were playing Kansas City and Warren Moon had 527 yards by the start of the 4th quarter, all he needed was 30 yards to break Norm Van Brocklin's single game record but instead he took himself out of the game and sat out the 4th quarter. Moon just shredded The Chief's Defense that day. Bill Cowher was the D coordinator and Tony Dungy was the coach of the Secondary.
I remember that game. I miss the Oilers.

All these guys have heart and determination. You can’t measure those things on a stopwatch or with weights. For the first name that came to my mind was Warren Moon, doesn’t mean he deserves number one, more than anything the disrespect the nfl gave him.
Where the hell is Priest Holmes? He was an undrafted free agent, took home a Super Bowl ring, was a 3 time first-team all pro, 3 time pro bowler, 2 time leader in rushing touchdowns, NFL offensive player of the year in 2002 and lead the NFL in rushing in 2001. How is he not on this list?

This is the most shocking Top 10 NFL list. My jaw dropped so many times. I'm glad these guys got their time in the sun after going undrafted. They clearly earned it!

Why does everyone hate Romo so much? It's not like he underachieved in Dallas, he was undrafted and put great stats year after year.
The only reason he's not a HoF in my book is because he was inconsistent at making the playoffs (he lost the division title in week 17 3 straight years to the giants, redskins, and eagles).
people should also think about how competitive the nfc east has been most of his career. look at the afc east with one good team (patriots) and three terrible ones during most of brady's career so they make it to playoffs every year
James Burgess considering the Cowboys history in quarterbacks they've had, he did underachieve in the postseason. Meredith, Staubach, White, and Aikman have all played in Championship games except Romo.
He is the all time leader in some major career stats and even a head of Roger and Aikman, he will go in one day but not the first ballot

Glad to see The Night Train at #2. Reminds me of Jim Brown. Amazing person, big brain, blessed with talent- and just decided that football would be more fun than a straight job. Showed up, and became the best through sheer force of will. Lane's interception totals are bonkers. In an era of 14 passes in an entire game.

Whoever said Vinatieri isn’t an all time great clutch performer in this is just stupid
Not really. He is overrated. People credit him with clutch SB wins, but in the SB against the Panthers, he only made 1 out of 3 attempts. And both of the ones he missed were under 40 yards. But people remember he made the last one (41 yards, not too tough) in that game. He really only had one super clutch kick - and that was the one he made in the Tuck Rule Game to tie it and send it to OT.
CLutch, but not super clutch. In 2002, NFL FG kickers as a whole kicked 40-49 yard field goals at a 63 percent success rate. That's the entire NFL in all sorts of weather/stadiums. Adam was kicking in good conditions and the game was tied, so a miss does not necessarily mean a loss. It was still clutch, but that one in the Tuck game was way tougher - weather was worse and they were down 3 and needed it to avoid defeat.
all I know is, he beat my team in the SB at money-time. the game was tainted by NE cheating, but not the FG.

I knew about NFL Europe when I would play Madden 06. I liked the Berlin Thunder. I'd take them and create a bunch of 99 overall players and the top players in the game and put them on the Thunder roster and use them as my team.

No way! Rob Smith was PHENOMENAL. He had everything you would want. He had good size, great hands, rarely got hurt, didn't fumble, was a leader, and always worked hard. No drama.

I take nothing away from his considerable accomplishments in saying Romo was higher impact & obviously, that's a judgment call. I'm proud of both men.

Hofstra doesn't even play football anymore. A lot of good players came out of Hofstra over the years.

A fantastic list, though you left off Donnie Shell of the Steelers - a terrific safety, part of the Steel Curtain, a four-time Super Bowl champion, and a Hall of Famer.
On my extended list of 16, Night Train Lane, Warren Moon and Kurt Warner are top three, with Randle, Motley and Gates being fourth to sixth.

Jeff Garcia had a solid career for an undrafted free agent. One of the most under-appreciated quarterbacks of the last 20 years, IMO.
Fair point. I'm not saying Garcia should be on this list or anything, but he had a solid career that a lot of people seem to have, unfortunately, completely forgotten about.
It was a tough act to follow after Montana and Young. I always said the guy is the on of the best QB;s ever to throw the ball on the run, across the field.
I would take Garcia as my #2 all day long- it's a shame he wasn't able to put together at least Brian Griese-level career. (i'd also take Brian Griese as backup forever and ever) Admitted Bronco Bias here, but ya know what I'm sayin.

Ridiculous. Jeff Garcia??? Underrated players don't deserve to make THIS list. He was a 'DECENT" QB. That's it. I'll give you TWO Pittsburgh Steelers that went undrafted and didn't make this list. Donnie Shell and James Harrison. Shell was a run stuffing, ball hawking, tackling machine who destroyed people, made 5 Pro Bowls and had 51 career INTs.James Harrison? Enough said.

One of the first things that Warren Moon did was he thanked Coach Campbell in Edmonton for playing him and QB Don Jonas for mentoring him.

Joe Jacoby - Started on one of the greatest offensive lines in football history in 4 different Super Bowls and was voted to 4 straight Pro Bowls.

It’s upsetting Dak gets all the credit, while having a way better team then Romo had and doing less with it. If Romo made it through most of the season they had a winning record. Can’t say the same for Dak with a better team.

Most of the time, someone else was making mistakes and Romo was doing his best to cover it. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, but he was always blamed as a choker when he couldn't.

My guy tried to keep every play alive and it costed him his body, he became brittle by the time we even got our O line. Look at Dak now he has the best defense in the nfl (arguably) and the o line is all that bad, he has ZEKE and struggles to get over 150 passing yards. Romo on this team we are 5-2 easily

Donnie Shell of the Pittsburgh Steelers (1974-1987) was a 5 time All-Pro safety and a 4 time Super Bowl champion. He has 19 more interceptions than the more ballyhooed Troy Polamalu (not saying Troy wasn't great, but I can easily make a case that Shell was better). When he retired, he was the all time leader in interceptions for a Strong Safety with 51(more than Kenny Easley, Brian Dawkins, and Steve Atwater) but he's not on this list or in the Hall of Fame? His career was infinitely better than both Crebet and Romo. Great job NFL! SMFH!
