Its a Great I.D.E.A.! Procedural Safeguards

Procedural Safeguards are the last tenet of the IDEA. They assure that in times of dispute there will be resources available to both the school and the family.
Each year we must be given a copy of our Procedural safeguards, but most families do not understand what they mean and do. They are the official alternative dispute resolution protocol as spelled out by IDEA. We will discuss all the options available to families in Florida such as:
1. Facilitated IEP-not covered by IDEA, but guaranteed under the FL Statutes.
2. Mediation
3. State Complaint
4. Due Process
5. Civil Litigation
