I'm ashamed to say I have a ton of unbuilt kits sitting in my cupboard and bookshelf, mainly VTTBOTS, Lost in Space, StarTrek - mainly PL, Moebius, AMT, Monogram, plus a good smattering of 1/32 Revell jet aircraft kits. Your build is TOTALLY sensational - I wish Polar Lights followed through and issued the large scale Kelvin JJ-Prise they had originally planned. The prototype demo/display they previewed prior to cancellation was fantastic.
Thanks for the review; I had this kit but sold it before I built it. I now have the small resin 'Reconstituted' version of this somewhere, which IIRC is supposed to be 1/2500. I remember all the controversy about the size of this thing back in 2009 and think that the studio could have done a much better jo of explaining themselves for those of us who care about such things.
Okay so I went and bought it again in late 2022; haven't built it yet. 1/1200, huh? Weird that it would scale out to that but I like your explanation as to why they would list it as 1/500.
Very Nice and interesting post. Beautiful job on the model. I just cant embrace any of the Enterprise exteriors in the JJ movies. I call this ship the Dr. Seuss Enterprise. It looks like the good Dr. designed this ship for one of his illustrated cartoon children's books. ( I am also a bit amazed that no one else has call this out before me in terms of Dr. Seuss as I thought it was quite evident.) Very whimsical and not a straight line to be found anywhere on it. To Me it looks like the designer lost his straightedge but found his french curve (old pre-computer drafting tools for you youngins) and did all his sketching with that. I for one am glad that the newest version in Discovery got back to a more original vision and tossed out the Seuss Blobs, bends and curves from the cartoon world.
Hi I have this kit and the Paragrafix PE set in my stash and I was also concerned re: the potential for saggy nacelles. Can you tell me if you think there would be room to add support behind the nacelle fan PE using a couple of small 1mm metal rods going into the pylon to help anchor them in place?
🖖😎👍Very cool and very nicely well done and very well executed and informatively explained in every detail way shape and form provided by you, but the SNW Enterprise at least looks more closer to the TOS Enterprise on to where the JJ universe Enterprise just is so totally different in every way shape and form in every way and the pylons to the nacelles are just way too forward and looks like the engines are going to snap off when it goes to warp and there just to bulky in the front and why are the bussard collectors blue I myself am not really a big fan of this version of the Constitution class starship's indeed!.
I bought the XL version of the Enterprise from Discovery made by Eaglemoss and it's fantastic so much detail in it and I'm glad that I bought it, I also have the Enterprise A in XL from Eaglemoss and it's just as good.
I wish they would just go with the '60s version. Maybe updated a little bit with aztecing. And maneuvering thrusters things like that. But leave it as the shape and size that it was
I quite enjoy this ship. But yes, I do prefer the Discovery version, but this one is still very nice. Ive honestly left quite a few Star Trek fan groups on fb because of how vile and hateful a lot of them get about anything new. It's just tiresome. I think I would go and do the pearl colours with the aztec pattern, anyway. I seem to recall in some flyby shots that it does have a fair amount of variation in hull colouration, and sheen.
The 2009 ship looks like a parody of the Enterprise, it's scaled ridiculously large. But that's not to criticize your build, you did the best with what you had and it is actually quite nice.
If you compare the volume of the TOS enterprise to a modern aircraft carrier or cruise ship you'll find that it's actually much smaller than either in terms of volume; it wild have been pretty cramped in in there. The size of the JJ enterprise is actually more reasonable imo. It may be long but in terms of volume it's probably not all that large.
Dont Turn on the sink and Hold the droopy nacelles high over a stove burner moving the model around to soften the plastic and bend them straight , hold them straight while cooling it off under the faucet . It works with the galactica too .
No matter how big that ship is its still hideous...but you built a nice model of it though👍🏾....by the way that colored cut out poster is from Star Trek Beyond notice the swept back engine pylons... not into darkness🖖🏾
Model aspects aside, I hate the ship design. I don't say this out of loyalty to the TOS Enterprise because I actually prefer the DISCO Enterprise over ALL other Enterprise designs.
The Kelvin one is just ugly compared to the original refit which is sleek and still looks way better. The warp nacelles are the worst bit they look like inflatables stuck on there.
Such an ugly design to me. If the original Enterprise had that design, I'd probably not have watched it, being age 11, it was the ship and equipment that got my attention.

That looks gorgeous. Nice work!
Very nice. Thaks for the tips on the Hull name and registry lighting!

I wonder if you suspended it with a cord somewhere in front and one on each nacelle if it might help straighten things up.
I don't like the star trek enterprise 2009

Interresting. Btw, you made a mistake, the revell tos Enterprise is in 1:600 scale not 1:500

Really nice video bro!
Beautiful,
But does the sausar separate?

I think there isn't a USS Enterprise kit that doesn't have Nacelle droop even the original kit from the 60's had it.
Kelvin-verse Enterprise: Designed by Dr. Seuss Inc.- not a straight line to be found.

For me the ship is 366 meters long the 725 meters size its just plain stupid

I wish round 2/ polar lights would have made it 1/350 scale!
Very very nice build and video. Unfortunately (IMHO) the JJprise just looks like a Honda
Star Trek Beyond enterprise is more line with the old
Wow u made me respect this ship more..... They made it too scale
They made the same mistake with the disco enterprise sizing.
I never knew that . I thought is was filmed at a brewery and cheap greenscreen .
The unholy creation
Nice

The 2009 pylons.... Stand up too straight.... They need angled
So, 11 years counts as "retro" now? Shit

I don't agree with this enterprise

Ewww JJ prise
Don't agree with you
