    When wrapping KBD Poly I used a red scotch brite and water and ajax to wet sand the whole kit. It worked well and had no problem sticking with 3M. I didnt use any adhesion promoter either.

      Nice. Seems to be a handful of solutions to the no stick issue. I’ma try the red scotch brite idea. I’m pretty sure that can stick to my DA Sander too. 3M is low tack so I got high hopes for your method.

      @@idealautofactory The SC front/rear bumpers and side skirts all got that treatment and held up good while i had it lol.

      @MasonJVO gosh. Now I wanna find some bumpers to try that on. I love when you can stick to one solution that always works.

      is that all you did to prep or any additional sanding?

      Thanks for the Tip I actually hit mine with Ajax with bleach and the green pad. I wonder if I would’ve use the red it would’ve been better. I usually turn these jobs down for customers But this one’s mine so I think I’m going to try the sand just to be safe, But I’m doing Carbon on the front and rear lips (metro print) and 3M Sat and thundercloud on the front bumper

    Thanks for the detailed explanation! I'm getting ready to wrap the interior plastics from my boss's plane. Hope it sticks.

      You’re welcome! What brand are you wrapping with?

      I've used 3m and Avery, but I want to switch to KPMF for some of their new colors. Probably going to use 3m for this interior because it feels like higher tack than Avery.@@idealautofactory

    I have an unpainted polyurethane rubber roof spoiler coming in soon and I'm looking to vinyl wrap it. Should I try degrease / detergent rinse and vinyl before sanding or just go straight to sanding it? Would traditional sand paper by hand work? Thanks

      A quick wipe down prior to sanding is always a good decision. You can use my method or @masonjvo method thats posted in the comments.

      Sand paper by hand is fine. Takes way more time though.

      @@idealautofactory Haha sorry, I should've used better wording. I meant is there any way for vinyl to stick without wet sanding or is it necessary?

    • @idealautofactory
      @idealautofactory  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @smileismild3095 Oh ok. Its only necessary to sand when the surface you’re wrapping on is low energy. Sometimes paint/primer is used instead but nothing is gonna beat a good sanding to increase the surface energy.
      Low surface energy = hard to stick to
      High surface energy = easy to stick to
