The fact that these pilots are not charging $75.00 to watch this video is a testament to truly what genuine masters all these guys are at not just aviation, but life itself... they know how valuable this knowledge is ... here some 30 years later it still is 100% relevant.. thank you fellas for doin this... happy and safe flying to all you SOB’s.... imagine flying in these days without any aviation apps or GPS guidance, or sat phones. Or auto locaters. Or variable pitch props, or fuel injection, or performance chips, or code readers, or Nav sharing data.... think about it

+BetterAircraftFabric My pleasure, and thank you, I appreciate that very much! I used to live up there and work for a small (now fairly large) air taxi service on the Kenai, and I've been back several other times on vacation. I'll certainly be in touch if I head that way again!

In steep landings, the "runway" comes to you, not you into the runway. The one thing I like about airplanes like supercub is that ones really fly the aircraft or with the aircraft. Modern airliners for instance, do the whole thing by themselves l. That is not flying. Besides, PA 18 Supercub is the epitome of the bushplane..... it is the plane!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. Talking about aircraft, I'm in love with it.

N7998P the black Super Cub shown in this video was written off in a landing accident at TOK AK on 23rd October 1976.

While it's true there are accidents on the record for this airframe, private aircraft that are "written off" for whatever reason and by whatever entity frequently are repaired and fly again. Especially Super Cubs.

The speaker sounds good, but its obvious he reads a script as he does say "Nabena Alaska" instead of Nabesna Alaska (at 4 minutes). If he would have been a true friend of the Ellis family he would have not miss-spoken the name of their place. Anyway, in general a much better speaker than many recent day speakers used in media! - I love these old videos, They had style! - End of my ramblings...

Sir, can you please tell me how can a super cub, with such a small engine operate in and out of high elevation airfields? A Cessna 172 struggles to fly out of an airport that is just 3,200 feet elevation. Yet, I hear you guys flying in and out of airfields that are above 6,000 feet.

The super cub has an extremely high lift wing, which is why is cruises so much slower than the cessnas. It also has a better power/weight ratio.

A Cessna 172 full of gas with 4 people aboard on a hot day is an airplane headed for a crash.

The super cub has up to 180 horsepower in a lightweight airplane with a large highlife wing and flaps. Horsepower to weight ratio plus low wing loading.

Is it better to dive a little & adjust with a slip at higher altitude landings?
