Glad I found this video! I've been carrying a few different Harbor Freight LED lights over the last 5 or so years. They are great, but the LEDs eventually start flickering and failing. Out of curiosity, I went to see if I still had the mini maglite my mom gave me as a kid. It was a work gift for her, for the new millenium(printed right on the body is 01/01/00), so made before then. It was corroded something fierce inside, so I had to fight to scrape that away and pound the batteries out. Not very happy with the light output of the incandescent, but equally unhappy about the longevity of my prior LED lights. How is yours holding up? For the money the kit costs, I hope it lasts as long as it's warranty!
Nice one. I just picked up a mini Maglite in black at the second hand store yesterday for $3. Incandescent. But it's weird, because the bulb didn't light, and I tested the voltage coming out of where the bulb goes in and it was under half a watt, even though the batteries were fine. So something needs fixing there.
@@RollingTardis I took everything apart and checked it, and retested bit by bit because something wasn't making sense. Got the voltage tested correctly now. I think it's the bulb that's the problem. So probably it should just be a candidate for an LED upgrade!

Still working!
That's quite an upgrade! In the hoard, I found a triple c cell Maglite, might have to upgrade the performance.
Lumen Craft makes a very nice upgrade for the C cell torches. Check them out.
@@RollingTardis Just looked at their stuff. Looks like that upgrade will definitely take the old Maglite up to a man's version.
@@dynatrak Sure will!

Got some oxidation going on at the lamp holder.

@@ZCount Them Incandescent Lamps never lasted very long. Upgrading very well worth it.
@@ZCountdo you have a video on how to take it apart , reset/clean everything and test/retest?
Sorry meant volts not watts.
