I have struggled with acne my entire life, and as I have aged, I now struggle with wrinkles and such. I was at the store the other day, and a complete stranger told me that I had such beautiful skin. I just did a full course of accutane and I'm still getting acne (though not cysts anymore). The derm told me to try benzoyl peroxide and I thought she was crazy. This video helped me understand a bit more about why and how I can do it at the same time as the Tretinoin. Thanks Dr dray!
I'm curious if it's actually ok to use this or a benzoyl peroxide wash before using tretinoin. I thought benzoyl peroxide oxidizes tretinoin and they cancel each other out. Not sure if this is still the case when you wash off the benzoyl peroxide.
Based on this video I purchased the stubborn acne neutrogena products for stubborn acne for my daughter. Her acne was very troublesome. Good news. Its been about 10 days and she is seeing nice improvement. Very affordable. She decided to leave it on her skin all day because she wanted fast results. Thank you for the help!,

I’ve been double cleansing using a fragrance free ponds cold cream wiping it off and applying cerave sa clenser leaving it on while I shower then getting out and rinsing it off with cool water patting my face dry with paper towels and applying the ordinary Azelaic acid moisturizer this is my night time routine and it’s been working I also stopped eating dairy bread and meat

I do this some mornings! Apply some BPO 5% cream to acne prone areas of my face and body (back and chest), leave there for 10 - 20 min and then I take a quick shower just to remove it. It's been working quite fine!!

I just started using the Aveeno oat nourishing cleanser and it's lovely soothing on my skin. But I will always be a big fan of differen for skin maintenance.
I use that product as a spot treatment at night, since I don’t really get full blown acne but the occasionally pimple here or there, works great that way
Love this but my recommendation for bp washes is the equate 10% benzoyl peroxide wash with no sulfates and is a creamy one. I live this one especially because it’s a creamy one and doesn’t foam and that’s really hard to find and especially at 10%

That particular formulation of BP is really nice! I bought it as a “travel size” this summer, but recently did some research and found that it is actually pretty economical per/oz.

I know benzoyl peroxide is considered pregnancy safe but is panoxyl with 10% benzoyl peroxide still considered pregnancy safe- I wonder what percentage was tested if there are any articles in medical journals about the precise percentage -not seeking medical advice just putting the question out there
I use a 10% leave-on Benzoyl Peroxide cream and it has been my savior from persistent acne. I leave it on all day under sunscreen and even reapply the BP about an hour or two before I shower. My skin is tolerant to potent actives and I use it with 0.1% Tretinoin, 20% Azelaic Acid and 2% Salicylic Acid in the evening for better acne control.
My dermatologist just gave me Diaminodiphem Sulfone. I am 50 with sudden softly acne. Within 2 days of using it I had over 20 pimples. My face looked awful. I called the office and she said oh I forgot to tell you some peoples face purge before it gets better. I stopped using it.
NOTHING works for me :(. 35 and still have horrible cystic acne, especially around my chin. Testosterone is normal, estrogen went from super high back to normal, etc. Benzoyl peroxide doesn’t do anything (even though I still use it), salicylic acid is horrible to my skin, I have been on 3 rounds of Accutane, and I would like to start a family soon - so no birth control or retinoids for me. Sigh.
Some makeup artists have said the best way for moisturized skin throughout the day is your prep (making sure you're moisturized before you even put it on). I'd also check makeup videos from derms who share their makeup routines and tips like Dr. Sam Ellis, Dr. Shereene Idriss, The Budget Dermatologist, Skin by Dr Azi, Dr. Ania Marie, MD, etc.
Dr dray can you recommend teenager skin care products ? My daughter is starting to have beachheads in her nose and some pimples but I don’t really know how to help her keep her skin clean . Thanks !

Me too. This is a much lower percentage so I'm feeling the impulse to try it but even with the neutrogena on the spot treatment on just one pimple that is nowhere near my eyes, both end up getting very puffy and almost looks bruised in the outer corner.
After washing the bp, what else can I apply besides moisturizer (under it). Like serums: vit C, niacinamide, tranexamic acid, pad (azelaic acid derivative) or copper peptides serum? Not all of them at once, but which one gets along well with bp? I know you wash off the bp, but from what I understand it still can be an issue to put certain ingredients on the skin after no?

Oh no! I loved that. Used it on my eyes as suggested by Dr. Dray. Hate when companies discontinue good products. Think my go to moisturizer,Neutragena Sensitive Skin is being discontinued. Been using for years. 😠
@@Lilah1754 I used that moisturizer too. However, I now use Vanicream's daily moisturizer with SPF 30 and it's very nice. Not as heavy feeling as the Neutrogena's and I can use it around my sensitive eyes.

Otherwise, the channels that really focus on all of these types of devices are esty ones (Penn Smith Skincare, The Organic Esthetician). Beauty Beyond 40 is also another channel that focuses on beauty devices and I believe that's part of her background.

I know benzoyl peroxide is considered pregnancy safe but is panoxyl with 10% benzoyl peroxide still considered pregnancy safe- I wonder what percentage was tested if there are any articles in medical journals about the precise percentage -not seeking medical advice just putting the question out there

I leave BP on for 1-1.5H almost every day, it’s a lot more tolerable for me this way then leaving it on overnight 😁
I use a 10% leave-on Benzoyl Peroxide cream and it has been my savior from persistent acne. I leave it on all day under sunscreen and even reapply the BP about an hour or two before I shower. My skin is tolerant to potent actives and I use it with 0.1% Tretinoin, 20% Azelaic Acid and 2% Salicylic Acid in the evening for better acne control.
What 10% benzol peroxide cream do you use?

Sulfone. I am 50 with sudden softly acne. Within 2 days of using it I had over 20 pimples. My face looked awful. I called the office and she said oh I forgot to tell you some peoples face purge before it gets better. I stopped using it.

How do you use benzoyl peroxide with vit C and retinol? Does it deactivate them?
NOTHING works for me :(. 35 and still have horrible cystic acne, especially around my chin. Testosterone is normal, estrogen went from super high back to normal, etc. Benzoyl peroxide doesn’t do anything (even though I still use it), salicylic acid is horrible to my skin, I have been on 3 rounds of Accutane, and I would like to start a family soon - so no birth control or retinoids for me. Sigh.

Me too. This is a much lower percentage so I'm feeling the impulse to try it but even with the neutrogena on the spot treatment on just one pimple that is nowhere near my eyes, both end up getting very puffy and almost looks bruised in the outer corner.
After washing the bp, what else can I apply besides moisturizer (under it). Like serums: vit C, niacinamide, tranexamic acid, pad (azelaic acid derivative) or copper peptides serum? Not all of them at once, but which one gets along well with bp? I know you wash off the bp, but from what I understand it still can be an issue to put certain ingredients on the skin after no?

I'm so bummed....Vanicream has discontinued their lip SPF. 😭 I'm allergic to chemical filters so now the hunt begins for a replacement.
Oh no! I loved that. Used it on my eyes as suggested by Dr. Dray. Hate when companies discontinue good products. Think my go to moisturizer,Neutragena Sensitive Skin is being discontinued. Been using for years. 😠

@@Lilah1754 I used that moisturizer too. However, I now use Vanicream's daily moisturizer with SPF 30 and it's very nice. Not as heavy feeling as the Neutrogena's and I can use it around my sensitive eyes.
