Thank you for the free classes. I'm an essential healthcare worker so don't have a lot of time, but I love being able to not think about reality when I get home. From Wisconsin :)
Hi Layle - watching on replay. My name is Wendy England, I'm an American living in Croatia. I've been scrapbooking for about 25 years and using Traveler's Notebooks for about 4 years now. (I should say inserts because I only actually own 1 real Traveler's Notebook. It's challenging for me to get supplies where I live now and only visit the US every 2 years or so. There's only so much you can put in a suitcase so....) I got introduced to Traveler's Notebooks watching Amy Tangerine and the Reset Girl. I've been following you through Simple Stories because I'm a long time S.S. far/ purchaser. I've enjoyed watching your TN videos. Thank you so much for offering those free during this COVID-19 pandemic. I just subscribed to your newsletter and hope to join your upcoming live. We'll see - the time difference is tricky at times. Can you tell me, was that letter stamp set you showed another Kerri Bradford set? It looked so similar to the Simple Stories letter stickers, which I love. Thanks! I loved the idea of creating slip covers for the inserts. I had never thought of doing that before. That's it for now. Have a great day!
Hi Wendy! Nice to 'meet' you. You live in a beautiful country! So glad you're enjoying the videos, I'm having fun doing them :) Yes, the stamps are from Kerri Bradford - www.kerribradford.com/product/stamps-brooklyn-outline/. They are out of stock; her stamps go pretty quickly so I've learned that if I see them & I like them I'd better buy them ;) Hope you can make it for this Saturday's live class, if not you can certainly catch it later on replay. Take care & stay healthy!
Just discovered your channel. I have watched Part 1 & 2 of your TN classes and am so excited to know I have more to watch. Over the years I have written things down in notebooks, journals, etc and always seem to be recreate a new system only to find it doesn't work so I abandon it. In 2018 I started a TN notebook but ended up abandonning it, too. I put too many different lists of ideas/projects in one insert and it became a mess. Thanks so much for sharing your ideas. I especially loved the idea of putting washi tape on a playing card. Brilliant.
This is Kristy Thomas from small town Kansas!! I'm thrilled to be following your Travelers Notebook series. So many great ideas to get me back into my TNs . Just placed my first order with you !! Excited to keep following along. Thank you for sharing your journey with TNs here !!!
Watched the first video just last week and now watching part 2. I use my traveler’s notebook to keep small items and memories I collect during our trips, didn’t realize I can use it for so much more. Hi and thank you from Sweden!
This is Dianne from Florida. LOVED the two part class on TNs. I have bought several and just couldn’t get inspired to do anything with them! Thanks to your videos, I am ready to jump in with both feet and get started. Lots of great ideas! Thanks for sharing and stay safe!
After years and years of watching my cousin scrapbook, and shopping with her for fun craft paper and supplies when we’re together, I think she finally broke me! Last year (July 2020) she came to visit me and we went to a scrapbook store near me. She purchased some paper and stickers about the coronavirus. After we left, I couldn’t get those papers and stickers out of my mind. As our shut down, and various restrictions, went from a few weeks to a few months, I realized that we were living something that would be part of world history in years to come. As much as covid and the related restrictions were not so fun, being forced to stay home together and make things work, we were figuring out ways to deal with each other’s lives (working from home, online school, etc). We were developing a routine and learning some respectful boundaries so everyone could do what they normally did outside of the home while being forced to stay at home. After a few weeks of adjusting to all that was new, we got used to the situation, and we started to make the best of the it. We were making memories doing things that no one ever thought we’d ever have to do in our lifetime! When my cousin came back to visit (July 2021), I told her I wanted to make a very mini scrapbook of covid. That’s when she told me about your TH-cam site and explained Traveler’s Notebooks. So here I am, working my way through your videos and getting ideas of how I want my covid TN to look. I have my insert, papers, stickers, and stamps together, but I want to get through a few more of your videos, and then I will be ready to start! Thank you for sharing your time and creativity with us!
I'm enjoying your videos and you have given me a lot of inspiration for starting a TN. I have used a work agenda and personal agenda for years but have also started doing a journal, a number of projects, financial tracker and am doing a a book of lists and also have a recipe journal ... these things are all in different books of different sizes and formats and I believe TNs may be a great way to contain the mess. I look forward to your future videos and thank you for sharing. I'm coming to you from Ottawa, Ontario in Canada and today is the first time I have watched any of your videos. Best Regards and stay safe. Nancy
Hi Nancy! So glad you're enjoying them. Like you I used different books in different sizes and formats for years. When I learned about traveler's notebooks it was a HUGE a ha moment for me - the perfect solution!
Oh this is awesome! I just found these videos following the rabbit hole of Instagram! so so fun. I am in London, Ontario, Canada and have followed you for a whole bunch of years! love your work.
Hello I’m Christina from Denmark 🤚🏻 I love all your tips and tricks. I’ve been bullet journaling for about 2 1/2 years and just got my first A5 TN last week.
This second class is fabulous I loved your teaching, amazing thanks for sharing I will follow all, I have a few TN am I going to do most of what you show in this video Maria from Miami
And here we are, almost 6 months later and your "October" blooper is real! I'm happy to have found this series. My 3 TNs are XL Cahier's. They are composition sized 7.5" x 9.75" I have never enjoyed wide ruled composition books and I started flirting around with college ruled composition books that I easily just tore the covers off. It wasn't ideal but I wasn't sure if I wanted to commit. I created my own unique covers that just happened to work from a couple hard bound book covers and an old photo album that had the same rings set as a really nicely already decorative address book. I used more than 1 set of the address books. A long time ago, I made a handle cloth cover for it to slip into. I referred to it as my brain. Alphabetical paper memory. I checked the size and then easily pulled off the metal ring mechanism. Because it was in a cover, I just wound the elastic around the outside spine of the book. I only wish I had a prettier fabric cover now. I did choose a durable one and I wouldn't call it ugly. I had another planner binder that was smaller from a clearance rack. It was the perfect size when I came across it a few years later. And the 3rd is a gutted hardbound book about Fairies. I have more than 1 so I have plenty of decorative fodder. So you know how completely crazy I am, I use these 3 TNs (1 still is for quick notes in the college ruled composition books) along with 3 Frankenplanned disc bound Happy Planners, in classic and BIG size. One of my BIGs (8.5x11) is just printables in an old disc bound planner. I use a 3rd classic sized Happy Planner as my catch-all that isn't traditional. Its just Home Base. It schedules me into the other planners and notebooks, throughout the day. I created routines that my disabled body could do. Especially with the Pandemic, people started living life at home, as my health required me to live. I was so over mundane rabbit holes where I'd spend 1/2 a day doing exactly the same thing. And I already had the obsession with all kinds of papers including scrapbook that were only collectables, because I couldn't grasp onto junk journaling, no matter how hard I tried. My attempts to have indexed "pagination" Bullet Journals only mounted to "Collections."(long-term lists) I'm a paper and pen girl. I have hundreds of notebooks and journals. I must own every set of markers made, too! And stickers and sticker books? I should have stock in MAMBI. My original Happy Planner failed because it was unlined vertical planning. I thought it was HP I couldn't do and then is was bullet journaling that I couldn't do. Then I realized that my problem was my daily life is very complicated. I'm a serious daily spiritual Christian, I'm a Family Historian. I go back to the Mayflower and I trace my step families, too. I'm a volunteer from home. I'm a blogger in 4 niches. Thats 4 blogs associated with social media cross accounts. I have an online Brand. I co-work Internationally. I have clients in more than 1 business and country. I sorely miss traveling but that halted long before Hurricane SARS CoV2. Don't be stressed by the word Caronavirus. That just describes the shape of the virus. The common cold is that same shape. I'm working approximately 11 planners, just together, 2 months at a time. No 1 thing fit because it was limiting. No matter what it was. Planner Peace is real. I have the bones of those planners for printables and notebooks of the future. There is something for everyone. This series is having me rethink my idea of using 3 larger lined and blank art books and journal, because I have them. I thought I could divide and conquer many single subject notebooks, creatively moving the useful info or quotes. Now I'm thinking more Cahiers. ♡~Heidi (Cali Girl transplanted to the Low Country of SC near CHS.)
Hi Heidi! Thanks so much for your comment. I'm glad you're enjoying the series. Very interesting to read about what you use. It's so neat that you've found what works for you. The best thing is that it's a continual, evolving process to figure out what works because our lives continue to evolve. Not one thing works for everyone. Good for you!
Thank you for this class and all the others. I have really enjoyed these first two classes and will be watching the next couple. It’s so nice to get fresh ideas. I am currently working on a Coronavirus notebook, which started off to be very simple but has progressed into something bigger. How can it not with all that is going on. Stay safe. Thanks again.
Small world so glad I got to do something fun while staying at home. I have quite the wishlist to start my TN. Next birthday shopping!!! On my computer of course!
Great video!!! Thanks so much for the free classses!!! I ordered a few things a couple days ago !! I am from Texas! Ive been using a TN for awhile and never even thought to use washi tape to make a book cover !!! Great ideas !!
Thank you Layle. I hope you and the family stay safe and well. I am enjoying your class and happy to hear there will be more of you to come. Looking forward to next Saturday.
Great content. I would like my TN to be first functional. I carry a small to medium purse. But mainly why I'd like this is to REMEMBER things. Dealing with cognitive issues @49, maybe this could help. I'm a 12x12 scrapbook of 20yrs, so I have the goods! lol. I'm tired of little scraps of papers floating around. I'm been working on a supplies list, when shopping this could be beneficial. Thank you for sharing this, Melissa from Louisiana
I'm so glad I found your channel and this series. I think I've found a system that will work for me now currently using my bullet journal but it's not working much then I found TN may have found planner peace a big thank you all the way from the UK xx
Hi, Margaret from British Columbia, Canada. I have just found your videos. I am a newbie to TNs. I have just finished #2. I am learning a lot. I am interested in knowing more about using watercolour pens as described in the video #2. I am looking forward to watching the rest of your videos and checking out your supplies. Thank you for this👍🏻
I am so glad these classes are going to continue. I am really interested in the memory keeping in travelers notebooks...I love your ideas. Thank you for sharing. Kathy from Missouri
Hi Helen! I am :) Videos planned for Saturdays going forward for a while. The next one is this coming Saturday, April 4th at 9 am MT. This one will be a LIVE video so you guys will be watching as I'm working & talking!
Wow, thank you for an incredible amount of helpful information in your videos. I’m new to TN but have always kept lists & notes, travel journals, etc. decorating the pages of planners with washi and other items. I love the interchangeable notebooks idea. Definitely looking forward to seeing more of your series. I’ll be ordering some products from you soon!
Thank you and your generous heart ❤️ for doing these free classes. I so enjoyed this one. Full of ideas and direction. I’m MargiElena a grandma from the Eastern Sierra in California.
As always Layle, you have done a great job and made it fun. Thanks for taking the time to do these videos as they are not only informative, but they sure help to break up the "isolation" time!
These are absolutely fantastic! I am learning so much! I appreciate your authenticity and inspiration. I am super excited for the forthcoming memory keeping video and hope you will share what you use to print the photos you insert (both printer and type of paper.) Thank you!
You're welcome! I announced at the end of this video that I'll be doing them for the next little while every Saturday at 9 am Pacific Time. The one tomorrow - the 4th - will be LIVE :) You can find more information about tomorrow's class here - laylebymail.com/blogs/news/free-on-line-traveler-s-notebook-class
This is really fun. I have some inserts lying around that need to get started so your class is very motivating. Thank you. Jeannine from Ontario, Canada.
Hi again Layle! On to #2 class...I'm going to go in order, so I can build my TN's in a fun and methodical manner. So much of my stuff is random, I want more continuity. Thank You! ❤️
@@LayleByMail I enjoyed it very much. Thank you again for taking the time to put these together. Also I can only imagine so of the looks you must have been giving your son. :)
I hope that you can make more videos of materials like stamps , stickers and collections that you use to give more inspiration. What do you do with the decoration and inserts cover afterwards? When you want to change the look for another season or occasion. Do you buy another one every-time if full or just buy new inserts for it?
Loved the class! Just what I needed during the quarantine to keep my mind busy. My fav part was decorating the pockets and covers. You are always so inspirational. Thanks Layle!
Hi it’s Emma from England! I’ve Been a happy planner for a year or so now but am branching out into using a tn instead and feel a bit lost so I’m enjoying this series, thank you x
Watching after live; Diane Barnes, Chandler, Arizona. I have a few Traveler's Notebooks and inserts but thus far have just used them to document small "vacations".
Hi Layle.... I’ve just started using a traveler’s notebook this January... (Had to make one myself...lolz)... Kinda difficult to get journaling supplies here but I’m making do with what I have and “doing me”... My creativity button is now turned on and I’m super excited... Thank you so so much for sharing... Love from Nigeria 🇳🇬 💕💕💕🙏🏼
Hi! I'm always amazed at how far reaching things can go - Nigeria?!! That is so neat :) I'm glad you started using a TN and made your own - good for you! Have so much fun doing you!

Hi! Glad you found me! :)
Thank you, Shelley! They help me break up the time, too :)

Hi again Layle! On to #2 class...I'm going to go in order, so I can build my TN's in a fun and methodical manner. So much of my stuff is random, I want more continuity. Thank You! ❤️
Hi Layle from San Antonio! Thank you for doing these two videos. Your ideas were great and I enjoyed learning from you.
Thanks Kimberly! I'll be continuing them, next one one this coming Saturday :)
@@LayleByMail I enjoyed it very much. Thank you again for taking the time to put these together. Also I can only imagine so of the looks you must have been giving your son. :)
Great info! I'm excited for your memory keeping with a TN class!
Me too! Planning on that one for 2 weeks from today - April 11th :)
Thanks so much for watching Debbie!
