    There you Kennan! This is what we mean! This was a fantastic video. You get more into the technical side of things without losing interest. You knocked it out of the park & I learned a few things about the E36 M3. I think you taking the car from a historical perspective is great, Doug touches on it but doesn't always go into deeper detail which you did here really well. Keep it up!

  • @davidt.6415
    @davidt.6415 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    To add on to the differential note at 11:50, the US spec got a 3.23 188mm lsd while the Euro spec evos had 3.15 210mm lsd. While 3.15 is still quite quick, it doesnt have that short ratio that the 3.23 feels. You row threw the gears more often, but it gives the US cars a greater sense of torque and athleticism. Its fun to row into 2-3-4 around the canyons.

  • @WarriorsPhoto
    @WarriorsPhoto ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Every time I've driven an e36 M3 I left with a smile.
    There's nothing wrong with that engine or the gearing. I'd get one of these in a sedan over an e30 or e46. I hope these cars stay reasonable and I may get a second car.

    EDIT: btw, i like the angles you use, i've always thought that Doug's static profile shots and rare angled shots were a missed opportunity to present the car properly, but i also rarely commented on it.

    I prefer the E46 styling, it's less boxy and that's what I like. However the E36 isn't bad at all design wise, compared to the G80 with its bucktooth front end. BTW, I think the US M3 has a better engine, despite having less power than the EU M3. It's just less complicated and easier to maintain.

    • @efradiesel
      @efradiesel ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@carsandbidsI have a 1996 Euro M3 3.2 Cabrio since 2006, and I can say that you don’t have to mess with the ITBs… In fact it is the easiest way to struggle with this engine. The adjustment screws come sealed from factory and that’s for a reason. IMHO The ITBs are not the problem. The problems are the connecting rod bearings (my first engine died 15 years ago because the rod 1 decided to leave the engine), the solid lifters that you have to adjust every 40.000km if you don’t want to loose a bit of the 321hp, and the dual vanos… That tends to loose oil pressure and rattle because the wear. It is true, it is way more complicated than the US version engine, but it is a gem of an engine. if you appreciate the feeling of a racing engine with that slightly raw touch, without roof, It feels even more intense.
