I disagree with the statement that Liberace "kept his sexuality a tightly guarded secret ?". Even though he denied being gay repeatedly if you just looked at any of his appearances on stage or in interviews, he SCREAMED that he was gay.
Its so sad to hear about these lives stifled, muffled, hidden, because homosexuality was so misunderstood at the time or plain old ignorance. What these people went through to keep their careers, their livelihood, etc. No wonder many fell into some sort of addiction or self destruction.
Seriously. I need to know WHY ANYONE needs to "address their sexuality" to anyone. I am heterosexual and never - not even once - have been inclined to nor asked to "address my sexuality." It is an intrusive requirement to make of anyone. And I would be highly offended of anyone imposed that requirement on me. So, I get why some gay people are testy and annoyed with others barging into the personal lives.
