Unbelievable I couldn’t believe my eyes when I tried it . Thank you so much for sharing and making this valuable video it’s life changing I can now have the things I love all shiny and bright
I’ve been putting off polishing a set of brass salt and pepper mills for MONTHS. This video was a lifesaver. My mills are now shiny and good as new. Thank you for making this video!!
I can’t believe it! Seriously, i have 3 bottles of Bar Keeper’s Friend in my house, and never thought to use it on my brass! I just spent a couple hours on the brass numbers on my mailbox because they are so black, you can’t even see them! Being a mom, I want to know that police, paramedics, and the fire department can CLEARLY see my address. I used a metal polish - supposedly an excellent brand. Still, the numbers were just OK to see. I came inside to look up some ideas, happened upon your video, and - you’ve got to be kidding me - this was an ingenious idea and I could’ve saved myself a couple hours!! I went back out there, and in 10 minutes, I accomplished more with Bar Keeper’s Friend than I did in 2 hours of using brass polish. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Thank you for this video!!!! My daughter is refinishing her grandmother's dresser and my task was to clean the brass hardware! Every other video I watched was time consuming and yes, complicated! you're straight to the point and show the results immediately! Thanks again!
I have been polishing a brass bed for 18 years using Brasso. It was always huge chore. This year I found your video and started using Bar Keepers Friend. It works beautifully. There is much less rubbing and I find the corrosion spots disappear much more quickly than with Brasso (if they disappeared at all, previously). So, thanks for the advice.
This sounds like what I need to do! Since it's not as easy to wash a bed under warm water, what do you do? Use a wet cloth? Or just use a dry cloth and skip the "rinse?"
@@sarakhanoom27 unfortunately, it takes extra rubbing with the rag you use to apply the polish. Then use the second cloth to see how much of the corrosion remains. Repeat as necessary. No matter how you do it, polishing brass is labor intensive.
WOW! I had several RLM Brass jewelry pieces which have been sitting in my box waiting for COVID to end and get back out. Using your video I cleaned them and they look like new! It was soo quick and easy. THANK YOU!!!!
My jaw dropped!! I bought THE SAME crane birds yesterday!! And i went to YT to see some tutorial how to clean them and you are just cleaning THE SAME birds i got that needs to be cleaned! omg
This video is a God-send! I have some brass vintage pieces and I was using brasso. It takes too long and doesn't get to this shine level. It literally starts coming off in 3 seconds of rubbing! Now my pieces look amazing!!
Just did this with my very old home’s door knobs which had a really cute old fashioned keyhole and now you can really appreciate it cause it’s not rusted over. This stuff worked so well with little effort. Thanks for the video!
THANK YOU!! I am restoring a very old sailboat and I tried tons of ways to clean the brass oil lamps. I never thought of Bar Keepers until I saw your video. It just took a few minutes to take the lamps from a very dark brown back to their original shiny brass. One more part of the boat that is fixed!!!
denise i tried it for the first time on a heavily tarnished brass chandelier based on your advice and it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. it works faster than brasso and you don't need as much. i had never heard of it before. i am so glad i found your page!
Denise, needed to clean 10 sets of brass doorknobs & back plates that were almost black with tarnish. It was taking me 30 minutes to do 1 set. So time consuming! Found your video looking for a faster better way. Had the powdered bar keeper's & made a solution, rubbed it on a back plate & within minutes it was clean & beautiful! What a find! Thank you so much for all your ideas & hints!
OMG! You are now my hero! It 100% WORKED on my thrifted midCmodern heavily tarnished brass candle sticks!!! ..now I need to see your vid on silver tarnish removal!!!!! 😊👍💖 Thanks!
Thank you for this video. I spent over an hour last night trying to clean the brass with Brasso on a vanity stool and I barely got any of the tarnishing off. I can’t wait to try barkeepers friend
Thank you so much for this tip! I had Barkeeper's friend in the cabinet and it does not even mention brass on the bottle. Your method is so much easier and faster. I did need a couple of passes and help with superfine steel wool to restore a 120-year-old brass blade + fan.
My 84 yr old mother pointed out how dull the handle on her dressers looked, hint hint. I'm glad I found this, there are 20 of them, this should make the job go faster, thanks.
3:08 Yours is the 11th video I've watched in my search for an effective way to clean my brass lamp! THIS is what I was looking for - something that removes those dark SPOTS without causing cramps, bursitis, nervous breakdown or bankruptcy! My friend told me, "Ahhhhhh ... just paint the damn thing if you love it that much!' But I love my BRASS lamp1 Thank you SO much!!!
About two years ago someone gave me two old Ethan Allen brass lamps. They are so tarnished so I just stored them away. I tried Brasso and the smell is bad and it's a slow process. I can't wait to try Bar Keepers Friend. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much. I nearly gave away my brass bed that took some effort to get. After reading the respondents posts, I decided to search further for another solution. Brasso barely touched the tarnish from a relative storing it in an unfinished barn. Dish soap was a waste of effort. Best wishes to you!!!
Just saw one of your videos for the first time. You rocked it girl! Thank you for the advise. I thrift, hunt, dumpster dive and finally restore and sell vintage and antique lighting. Needless to say, I come across A LOT of tarnished brass! In fact, I have stock piled so much lately that I’ve become somewhat overwhelmed. Thanks to your video, I am now inspired to finish restoring about 25 different tarnished brass lamps that I have been putting off for..... forever! I have been dreading even the thought of tirelessly scrubbing all that brass(o)😉 with a product that shall remain nameless😂. Not anymore! BK here I come!!! Really looking forward to bringing some life back into beautiful pieces that have been neglected for years, with A LOT LESS EFFORT! I love your style! Thanks again!!!
I needed to clean a brass lamp that I purchased at a flea market and your video came up. Thanks for the video and tutorial. New subscriber. Blessings from Texas.
I have a brass collection from my Dad, boxed away You've motivated me to want to.sort through the collection, and clean a couple to display..You're so inspiring. Hugz.
i just picked this up for the first time today & i LOVE it! i cleaned all my Le Creuset with it & used the spray to get rid of hard water stains in the glass shower! 💙
My kitchen, bathrooms and outside doors all have tarnished brass knobs. Can't wait to get started. Especially like that it isn't smelly and therefore nontoxic. Thank you!
OMG!! Amazing and thank you so much!! I never would have thought about using that on brass! It was so easy to clean the front door handle and lock on my house that I am selling!! If I didn't see it with my own eyes, I may not have believed it!! And it was so fast!!
This video was so helpful -- I used the Bar Keeper's Friend soft cleanser that I already had in my cabinet. It worked great on a large cane holder for our living room that we picked up at an antique store. It took a bit of work to get the bad tarnish off, but now it shines.
Thank you so much for the tip on Barkeepers Friend! I was dreading the task of polishing two brass bannisters in my home. I was amazed at how well and fast it worked!
I don't typically comment because that's just not me, but I have to tell you that I love your voice; it is calm and soothing. I love that you are a no-nonsense woman that doesn't feel the need to giggle throughout her video. However, I love the lilt in your voice and can hear your smile at times too. I love that you share your knowledge. I have learned so much from you already and I only found you two days ago. Thank you for being you. :-)
Thank you so much for sharing!! I have tried and failed so many times in trying to bring brass objects back to life, and now I feel like I'll be successful! Thanks again!
Thank you for your tips on how to clean brass. Yesterday I bought a vintage brass Christmas music jewlery box for $1.00 at a thrift store, yes the music box still works and it plays the song White Christmas. The box was very tarnished and I did not know how to clean it. I used Bar Keepers Friend. It is beautiful, looks brand new. I Love it.
I have to find me some items and bling them back to life, The bar keepers works wonders. The evident cabinet is what I'm waiting to see because I already know that your blessed hands are gonna hook that baby up. I learn so much from you Denise, keep posting these videos.
Thank you for the info I have needed for so long! I also get a lot of awesome deals from thrift stores, rummage sales and antique shops. I have a lot of brass and I thought endless scrubbing with Brasso was the only thing to do. Now I can’t wait to easily clean all my treasures. I have a few precious antique clock and candelabra sets. I hope it works on them as well. Thank you
Paint the cabinet white with blush pink interior and add the gold to the knobs....also, add some gold to the corners! Love all the brass, especially how you get them to look almost brand new!!
my dear, I was waiting for this brass cleaning video. I bought a few pieces in Virginia at a Thrift store. now I cannot wait to clean them. I do have Bar Keepers Friend...and guess what's amazing...i only bought it today...i just cannot contain my excitement...thank you for sharing!!!
I got a really cool old brass lamp and was doing something I’m not sure what then saw your video and I want to tell you I feel like the biggest dork ,, thank you for saving my project I was about to really mess it up.. !! I was going to Chicago when all I had to do was walk across the street..
I got a 1945 Brass lamp from my local thrift shop for $10. It is a floor lamp and the spots on the base resemble one of your ducks. I cannot wait to try barkeepers friend on this. Thanks again for all your tips.
So glad I found this video!!! I always have the powder on hand (to clean my kitchen sink) so I made a paste with some water and was shocked at how well and quickly this worked. Thank you!
I love your brass pieces. I bought a "huge brass fish sitting on an ocean wave" sculpture from my local Goodwill and now I know how to clean it. Thanks! :-)
Thank you so much for posting! I am redoing a hurricane lamp that was in really bad condition, and the base is brass. I have tried brasso and it is just not getting it done. Also the glass paint was pealing; I found stained glass paint and it is beautiful now. Krylon makes a line of the stained glass paints. Thanks again 😊
Thank you!!!!!! Getting started today, already have bar keeper friend power so making a paste! *Tip* Recently I found “Gloves in a bottle” it’s a lotion that keeps you hands protected while cleaning.
Thank you! I had some vintage brass drawer pulls that looked horrible, ready for recycle bin even! I used your watched your video, made a beeline to Home Depot for the Barkeepers Friend(my friend too now), and applied it to the brass. The results were amazing! Thanks again!
I have some old brass drawer handles on a vintage Hollywood Regency Gothic style dresser that I want to refinish. It was a neglected piece that I think will be gorgeous after some hard work, (I'm old, so it'll take longer and feel harder!) This tip helps immensely! Thank you!!
Thank you for the liquid BK tip...I have used the powder, but the liquid for a polisher looks safer for the metal. I think I would paint the cabinet white inside & out and use pink liner on the shelves or drawers. I love your pink and white office. You are good my friend! Blessings, Cheryl Ann
Thank You Denise for all your Tips! I love your voice, it’s very soothing when explaining your techniques. I appreciate everything and I hope my brass looks like yours!
Buying your recommendation of Bar Keepers Friend soft cleanser, can't wait to clean my brass pieces that I have been dreading for a year.. I hope it works, you make it look easy, so thanks for posting the video..
If you're a fan of flea markets, you HAVE to come to Leipzig, Germany the last full weekend of every month for Agra. It's about the size of 4 football fields, and people sell grandma's antique furniture and artwork for a song - and I can't even sing that well!! I've made some astonishing acquisitions for astonishing prices. And I love the clean-up and repair after I get them home. This was fun to watch. Thanks.
Thanks Denise. You are such a wonderful blessing to this generation. May you continue to be bountifully blessed. I don't know if I will be able to find the bar....polish cream here in U.K. England, If not, what is the alternative cleaning solution to use for cleaning brass. I have my filing cabinet already. I hope I will see how you transformed yours then I will do the obvious lol!! "the oblivious is copying your style" lol. Thanks again Denise.
Aw, you're super sweet Joy! Thank you doll! You can try Ketchup or tomato sauce or paste. I've heard that works too! Just leave it on for 20-30 min and wipe off. Give that a whirl and let me know how that works out for you! ~xo
Your voice is so clear and calming and the video was so easy to watch I didn’t skip though anything which I usually do to get to the point lol thank you for this !
Thank you so much for this! My great grandmother gave me some tiny brass swans 20 years ago as a child, and today I found an exact replica, but larger, at the flea market. They're in pretty rough shape, but I'm hopeful I can restore their beauty with BKF, and put them with their little friends. Thanks again!!
Hi!! Thank you do much for the video on cleaning silver. I believe i have a real silver tray purchased from thrift store it had a name and 3 numbers on the back I'm going to clean it with the product your recommending. I was going to ask the local antique shop about a product but now i have one to try Thanks lady. I have a few brass prices that im going to shine and display them so excited now!
Just bought a vintage brass umbrella holder with lion's heads on either side with a ring in their mouth for 30 bucks, since cleaning the difference is like night to day, it looks DOPE!
Yes , I agree pink and gold for that cabinet Denise ,. Wow. Looking for a cleaner for my brass fire surround. Looks like this Barkeeper's friend fits the bill .😂
Your a genius I tried this today worked great.i couldn’t get the cream so I used the powdered form mixed with water ,coated it let it sit for an hour washed it of and it came up like new
I have those two exact cranes from my mom have had them for years ! I have them out in my living room I'm going to get some brass cleaner I can't wait to see them shine again
I'm a fan of the pink and gold look myself, especially because the rest of your furniture is white. It will make for a great accent and you can always change it if you change your mind! It's so good to know how to clean brass, I learned something new, thanks Denise!
Hey sweet friend! Exactly...it's only paint...lol! I'm thinking pink too because I have so many white furniture pieces. Thanks so much Nikki! Kiss those sweet kiddos for me! ~xo
This lady is so well spoken. Straight to the point. Other you tubers need to watch her as an example. She is all business. Very helpful. Thank you.
Finally someone made a video that got to the point and told me exactly what I wanted to know.
Thank you
Unbelievable I couldn’t believe my eyes when I tried it . Thank you so much for sharing and making this valuable video it’s life changing I can now have the things I love all shiny and bright
Wow! Those ducks are gorgeous! Great deal!👍
I think so too!
I’ve been putting off polishing a set of brass salt and pepper mills for MONTHS. This video was a lifesaver. My mills are now shiny and good as new. Thank you for making this video!!
You've got great taste and an excellent eye for great things. Your collection is beautiful. I hope I find pieces like yours with such favor.
My stainless steel cookware is almost 20 years old and used everyday but still looks brand new thanks to Bar Keepers Friend!
I can’t believe it! Seriously, i have 3 bottles of Bar Keeper’s Friend in my house, and never thought to use it on my brass! Brass has made a comeback, your pieces are beautiful!
It works! I'm restoring an old boat. Lot's of brass. This was by far the easiest method! Thanks!
You have been a blessing. I am running to my grocery store for Bar Keeper's Friend to polish my old brass lamps! Thank you for this video.

Blush pink!! For sure with gold accents. Awesome.
That was very helpful. I like how you put those dessert flowers in the polished brass container with the moss. You are so clever!
This is a wonderful video I just found. Wasn’t sure of the easiest way to clean my new copper birdhouse roof. Thank you for all of the details !!!
I'm sold, great job. Beautiful home!

~xo

Just bought a vintage brass umbrella holder with lion's heads on either side with a ring in their mouth for 30 bucks, since cleaning the difference is like night to day, it looks DOPE!

~xo
You're welcome! I read this to Jorge, he said what about him hahaha! J/K! I look forward to seeing how it all comes together!
