Awesome stuff lovely set up, We met the same chap with the bird at a free camp up FNQ last year, we stayed at nearly the same spots on our trip to Darwin 4 years ago only way to go free camps, were you can,
Thanks Craig.
Loving the show. Thank you.
Thanks kerrie.
Awesome vid guys. Safe travels
Thanks.
100 kph is the maximum towing speed limit in Aus. 110 kph risks your insurance.
Great info mate, we are a week into our trip traveling north from Melb and Currently in Coober Pedy.
One question do you drop the cruiser into 5th gear at all on the flat roads? Our tow vehicle is a 76 and are towing a 3t van, I want to go to 5th but not sure.
Hi Matt. Yeah some days it will cruise along in 5th happily other days 4th is the go depends a lot on the wind I find.
I think 4th is easier on the ute though as a general rule.
Hey guys, I've been told to never ever tow in 5th gear particularly if you've got the taller 5th gear on the cruiser. I've got a 78 series Troopy and we're towing a 3.5t van and I only ever tow in 4th gear. I sit on between 90 and 95km/h and find that's the sweet spot for speed, fuel economy and safety.
Excellent video guys loved it. Travel safe. 🇦🇺👍🍺❤️
Black soil can be very deceiving
Yeah nearly got us.
Great set up guys
Wondering about your travel weights?
In Wa they are starting to hit traveler’s up
I’m led to believe over east it’s a regular occurrence
Cheers
We are currently around 7.2 tonne (7.4 tonne gcm ) and am on the limit for sure, we try to keep an eye on what we carry.
Love the videos guys!!
by the way what scan gauge do you use to show you Litres per 100?
Scan gauge brand. Scan gauge 2 I’m pretty sure mate.
Great vid guys. Living the dream.
Cheers mate. Living the dream we are!

Thanks for the kind words.
Loving the episodes guys, perfect motivation to "get out there and do it"
Forgot to say Mataranka is one of my favourite places, a true hidden gem that so many would just drive past and never know existed. Bitter springs is just as nice around the corner 👌
Thanks Shaun.
Yes we are keen to really start the holiday at mataranka and stop driving so much.
@@SmartTouringSystems 💯 we pushed with minimal stops from whyalla to Mataranka to spend a few days there relaxing before the leisurely drive to Katherine and then Darwin a few years ago. Then made sure we stopped in at Mataranka for another few nights to enjoy the springs before heading home to SA.
If your doing litchfield this trip be sure to stop in at buley rock hole another hidden gem in the NT 👌
Enjoy your trip, looking forward to the next episode
@@shaun.oo__oo cheers mate, we certainly are looking forward to chilling out for a couple of days at Mataranka! Thanks for the hot tip about Litchfield, we will definitely try and check out that spot
