    I really like these videos that are more simple for me, a beginner. I wish there were more receptive practice videos like these. I like that the meaning is in caption just a split second after the sign, so that I can get the words I don't know yet. Thanks!

    I haven't been in an ASL class since I graduated in 2019 and I was nervous I had completely forgotten how to sign. Seeing your prompts, I remember how visual and conceptual the language is, and I realized how much I can still retain from watching a person sign. Thank you!!!!

      Same! I took asl in college ~ it's been several years and I'm surprised by how much I remember!

    You are a very clear signer. These were for beginners but it was fun to go back and practice my fundametnal receptive skills! good job!

    Nice to know hanging out with my deaf friend and other deaf people has really helped my receptive skills. I understood 90%. Fingerspelling I understood completely.

    This is great, thank you! I am a hearing person who is learning ASL. It's very helpful to have only sign videos without subtitles

    I wish there were more receptive videos like this instead of showing the signs and saying what it is right away (either talking or large captions). This helps my memory of signs I already know and I feel more improvement reception wise 👍👍

    I believe #6 is The book you want to buy costs $25. #8 When I watch a movie, I love to eat popcorn...I really enjoy it (or something close...really enjoy pigging out on it, etc.).

    Can someone tell me what what numbers 6 and 8 are? I missed some signs in both.

    • @lexi4731
      @lexi4731 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      for 6 i saw "What book do you want to buy?" and for 8 i translated a broken sentence lol. "I saw eating popcorn. it was yummy." That one is totally wrong.

      #6: "You want to buy this book? It costs $25."
      #8: "When I see a movie, I love to eat popcorn. (mimes eating popcorn). I really enjoy it."

      Yeah just weird that she didn’t use “th” morpheme.. I’m just beginner-intermediate but from what I’ve read , seen on YT videos, and been told, you should use “th” mouth morpheme to distinguish “not yet” from “late”

    Try not to mouth the words you are signing. especially if you are an actual ASL instructor. I’m surprised you weren’t taught this.

    • @aslaria7592
      @aslaria7592 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      well I mean for a lot of signs that are similar/ have multiple meanings it might be helpful/necessary to mouth words. Both my Deaf instructors did it a lot. I do agree though for receptive practice specifically it might be better to see what you can catch without it however in conversation I feel like it can be helpful.

      @@aslaria7592 I agree I think its vital to have the words mouthed as you go
