And then there's Lugh, who's an orphan and has no parents to tell him no! Though his support with Ellen confronts him being a child soldier, with Ellen thinking Lugh shouldn't be here because he's 13. Lugh literally retorts with "But I'm only two years younger than Roy!" Roy, the literal leader of the army. Ellen just passes that off as "Well, he doesn't have a choice." And Lugh has to prove to Ellen that he can defend himself. I'm a big GBA nerd so I don't know how well the modern games confront child soldiers, but the GBA games did a pretty good job.

That's how most wars are fought unfortunately. Some children have no choice but to fight I am pretty sure this picture is painted pretty well when Prince Marth's entire kingdom was destroyed. Imagine being the heir to a throne which was taken. That's the type of perspective you have to understand here. It doesn't look that serious especially with NES, SNES or DS graphics(maybe a little more here) but the scenario is actually quite grim. You see this trope often in the series too and it's also a part of our dark history of warring. If you watch the Fire Emblem OVA conflict is depicted with a lot more seriously.

A funny thing is that you gain an Empty Sack in Jimbo’s inventory upon recruiting him, but Homer was the one that supplied it to him. Dude found a way to hold onto it without using up an inventory slot.
FE: Blazing Blade is such a good FE game, the recruitment mechanic out there is phenomenal; gave us a good dialogue/storytale which I very much enjoyed.
My favorite recruits are when you randomly enter a town and instead of getting tips on how to beat the boss, you walk out with someone you'll probably just shuffle into the deck and never use.
He probably has some kinda overpowered promotion with special secret doorknob you can get from that one door to a tree house which is at the middle of that location with multiple houses surrounding a tree.
The only issue is Niles is... Not very good. Makes actually utilizing capture pretty hard. Orochi is no shining star of a unit either, but hitting Res and being in the easier route definitely make her feel better at it
I hate that the modern Fire Emblem games moved away from this. I liked that you had to use context clues to figure out who to send to recruitable units instead of it being automatic or just sending your Lord to talk to them every single time.
