Sorry for the late response, in no way I'm licensed but I've learned since you have to canulate the artery and vein sometimes it causes stress on it, whereas a cardiac bypass machine connects internally to a stronger blood vessel.
This is why im pro animal testing even though im an animal lover ...we need to test new medicine and such befor useing it on people (well we used to now we just give experimental drugs to everyone) but its like we ether test on animals, convict's,or straight to people and no testing
