I'd say ideally on that first clips the guy with the red top on should be making left shoulder contact when the shield carrier goes to this left. More chance of getting his head in the wrong place by making a right shoulder contact.
Well spotted Mathew and great points thank you. We always encourage a good head position when tackling in both League and Union to protect the players. This drill was focusing on the team drill rather than the tackling position. We will be doing some tackling drills and will incorporate your points. Much appreciated from BB Skills and Fitness.
i disagree with this technique for defense one is you don't wanna be drifting before the first 5 metres once the offence has you drifting it's open back on the inside second whoever put these guys in for the demo have poor tackling technique
This drill is more focused on working together as a team to push up and meet the attack and not to leave gaps inside and outside. We'd say push up and close the distance then adjust your feet to drift then get back onside before repeating the drill. These are amuture players and sometime they tackle on the wrong side push to early or drift to early but this video is more for the drill and how you could maybe use it or modify it.

Some people are more comfortable with tackling on one side and they make it work.
