I just leased one today in Graystone Metallic with beige/black interior. It's gorgeous, it's comfortable, and I'm very happy with pretty much every aspect of it. I also think the power it has is perfectly fine. There's a touch of turbo lag for about two seconds at first, and then it bolts through intersections, onto freeways and in passing. I live in Los Angeles where there's definitely a need to have swift acceleration for the crazy roads and freeway merges and so far today I've had no trouble whatsoever. Incidentally, on my way home from the dealer I stopped for groceries: Two separate people asked me if it was a Buick (yes, just like the commercial, not even kidding), and someone out in front of the local Coffee Bean spent a good minute or so ogling it up and down while I watched from inside. To the haters and complainers who haven't seen one in person much less driven one-- STFU. lol. Drive one before bitching about it and complaining over how disappointed you are.
@@RWernsing absolutely loved mine and miss it. I only got rid of it because my lease was up. It was easily one of the best Buicks I’d ever owned and I’d even say it was the most tightly engineered.
I have driven that car a few years ago. It's about the same size as a (much more expensive) Audi A5. The car I drove was nearly full-option. I was amazed how well build the car is. I can anyone recommend to drive it, it's a lot of car for the money and the 1.6 turbo combined with the manual is pretty quick. The suspensions is also well sorted, a large convertible is quite heavy but it's suspensions keeps everything in check when your up the tempo, it also doesn't under steer as soon as you would expect.
I look at the Buick as replacing the Chrysler Sebring/200 and the Volkswagen Eos, ( along with some Saabs). It picked a perfect time to come out. My grandmother loves convertibles and she has always had the Sebring but now that it is out she needs a new convertible.
He forgot a competing car: Volkswagen EOS...and EOS has a retractable hard top, which I prefer. I'd like to see a side-by-side comparison of Cascada and EOS.
Great Review Peter and nice to see Key West.... however I had to say it the southern most point for the US is Hawai @ ~20deg N as aposed to Key West @ ~24deg N. £30k motor to the UK
Thanks for remembering Hawaii, we're a state too remember number 50. But American Samoa is the southern most point at 14 degrees south, remember the US Territories. The sign was correct for saying Southern most Continental US. Nice vid TFL, I vote for your visits to Hawaii and all the territories.
Description Says; "Opel Cascada a soft top convertible that has been on sale for several years now." In reality, it has only been out for 3 Years in Europe. So, Several Years Now Means Only 3 Years...
And no you can't drive to Hawaii, but you can fly there and drive....just like you flew to Florida. Nice review by the way, it has no competition because all the cars in that price range got the ax.
As the owner of a 1990 Buick Reatta convertible, this car will also have a limited run. While not comparing the two, Buick has made similar mistakes with the Cacada as with the Reatta. Buick holds back on features (the "little things" that make a difference in the interest of cost. This car should have push button start. It should be RWD. It should have 40 more horsepower. I know Buick is marketing the car as a boulevard cruiser (as they did with the Reatta), but people expect MORE today then they did 25+ years ago. Its the little things...the little touches that initially made Lexus the brand it is today (after just 26 years!!). I fear this car won't last 4 years before Buick stops importing them from...Poland?!
Say what you want about this Buick, but I think its a great looking car. Sure the performance and fuel economy could be improved, but honestly I don't think it would really bother me all that much (unless fuel prices spiked to $4/$5 a gallon).
Thanks for the review. We're considering a convertible down the road and I was hoping the Cascada would be a cheaper alternative to an A3 or BMW. It's a shame they didn't update the interior on these. Do I spy a monochrome DIC?
Do they make the Eclipse any more, it could compete in that market? Nice looking ride for a Buick who've come a long way. Though Gm needs to do some more marketing on the Buick brand.
Now try getting into the front seat where the seat paused when you were in the back. I can't see many people buying this over a Mustang or Camaro convertible. At $37k, you're almost competing with the BMW 228i convertible too.
I live in Europe and I had very high hopes for this car when it came out, but I was very disappointed when I went for a test drive. The driver seat is way too tall for my liking even in the lowest possible setting. There is a gazillion buttons which I could probably get used to (I find it actually a lot more user friendly than the all-touchscreen controls), but it feels rather dated next to any other modern convertible. The whole roof mechanism feels a little overcomplicated and the trunk is as good as useless with the roof down. This was the biggest deal breaker for me because other convertibles like the Mustang or even the first generation Sebring have a way more practical roof mechanism that doesn't cripple the boot like a hard top convertible. The 147kW engine looks powerful enough on paper, but somehow I couldn't convince myself that a 1.6 is enough to move such a heavy car without too much effort. On the other hand the Cascada has some very nice touches like the optional adaptive suspension, heated and ventilated leather seats, the nice little antenna (unlike the ugly black rod on the current Mustang), blind spot monitoring and lane assist (maybe there is no such option in the US version like Roman said in the video), the car is very quiet with the roof up, the HID lights are actually quite nice, and the car can read traffic signs with speed limits which is pretty neat. Unfortunately even if the starting price is more than competitive, the Cascada equipped with all the bells and whistles quickly loses a lot of the price advantage over its competition. The bottom line from my perspective was that the Cascada is a big and relaxed convertible like the old Chrysler Sebring, only with a lot less leg room in the second row and a totally useless trunk.
+doraemonster916 I was interested in the Cascada mainly because of my budget since it's very hard to get a decent convertible or roadster for a good money. I would go for the S2000, but it's no longer in production and Honda doesn't have a suitable replacement, so my candidates for a new daily driver were the Cascada, BMW Z4, Mercedes SLK and Mazda MX5. I'm not a very big fan of the MX5 and a reasonably equipped Z4 or SLK are quite a bit more expensive, so I thought that the Cascada could fit the bill. Fortunately the new Mustang became available before I could decide, so I went for the Ecoboost Convertible and I'm rather happy with it so far.
this car makes me happy that we the taxpayer bailed out GM. What a fantastic example of engineering complimenting artistey...and all for under 40k! Outstanding!!!!
A price point that's too expensive? Have you even looked at how expensive the competition is? Plus this had comfy seats with 4 way lumbar and 4 way head rest!
in Europe this car is indeed german engineered however do not think it offers reliability. its one of the highest depreciating car brands across Europe due to poor reliability. in the UK this car is re-badged as Vauxhall
+MrKeyboardCommando Totally disagree with you. I just bought the Cascada today and I love it. Gorgeous, luxurious, comfortable car. I owned two BMWs prior and they were fine, but obviously I like this better.
***** If you have to ask why someone want to drive 150mph in a car. You are gay or a woman. I raise the limiter on my 04 Trailblazer to 134. I have not had the space to do more than 110 but if I can safely. I will try it.
***** If you understood the appeal, you wouldn't have ask the question. My suv come from the factory with 275 hp 134 mph is about the top speed for that hp. If you have driven a Trailblazer. You would know they are very stable suv with Low center of gravity and very good brakes. I'm use to high speed and have topped out many cars without a single crash. I've been 145 in a 750iL I own a ZX14 and have gone 165 mph. I only drive that fast when it's safe. There are rules for high speed driving in the city.
***** BTW, I'm not a normal brother. I use to steal cars as a teen and use to teach people how to run from cops. High speed driving, I'm use to it. I had a 75 280z and for 30 days. I topped it out everyday (125mph).
The acceleration may suck, but at least the gas mileage...wait, no, that sucks too. Come on, Buick, one of those two is supposed to be good. Too bad, because I think it's one of the better looking four-seat convertibles out there. Short trunk lid.
In Europe most of these cars sell with a Diesel engine. The hardtop version is called the Astra and a new version has just gone on sale. The Astra competes with the Ford Focus for sales in Europe.
37,000 Dollars$$$$$$ for something that looks like a revamped Pontiac G6 Convertible that had a V6 and power to spare and killer looks .You could buy a used G6 .....$ 12,000 to 15,000 with low miles ......and save some money for a rainy day and still have a nice convertible......
+youfermont And then it'll litter up the Enterprise used car sales lots, where they will be snatched by college girls who want to have a fun convertible for cheap.

had this in europe for like ever lol finally got it over in the states. all they did was take the lighting bolt and put 3 shields on it.
made this drive in Sept in a '15 mustang convertible, man was that a blast, smooth ride, top down, ocean on both sides of the road, perfection
AHAHA the black dude at the end, that was hilarious. 9:15
+Charlemagen "Dude! You're blocking my selfie!"
I'm a little short of six one and had no trouble sitting in the back with a six foot guy in the drivers seat. Was surprised.

Thanks Roman Nice review, Buick is really coming into their own, Living in Orlando its nice to see you do a review in Florida
Everyone is looking at him like: What the hell is he doing?
I remember at the Philadelphia Car Show when I got to see this for the first time. It sounds like it actually will do really well
My wife has a beetle tdi convertible. We saw this at the auto show and, after seeing this video, I think we will keep the vw.
I wish I had your job! You get to go to all these interesting places and drive all these interesting cars.
At 8:27 WTF is with that thunderbird in the background lol
Great review! I have to say this car looks 10 years old to me.
I look at the Buick as replacing the Chrysler Sebring/200 and the Volkswagen Eos, ( along with some Saabs). It picked a perfect time to come out. My grandmother loves convertibles and she has always had the Sebring but now that it is out she needs a new convertible.
I'd love to see you guys do a comparison video of this and the Eos. Seems to me like that might be its closest competitor.
Hey look! A perfect Rent-a-Car.
Great last camera shot
Looks great, hope they sell a ton of them.
These will be great for rental car companies in tourist locations!
my spellcheck likes to make new words. artistry
Love the vids as always!
It's great! I like it! 4 seat affordable convertible that is decent on gas. On the plus side it's easy on the eyes.
Rental companies are going to love this car. It looks like it's from GM circa 2008, inside and out.
If Chrysler brought out another Chrysler 200 convertible, at least I think it would be a good competitor.
I was just thinking that with 295hp it'd be fun to
Came really close to getting some curb rash at the last shot there. Gotta watch out with bigger wheels.
I for one am waiting for the 2017 Buick Verano / Opel Astra hatchback.
This is also a Vauxhall Cascada in Britain as well as being an Opel in Europe.....or Buick in North America.
this engine would kick ass in other gm products like base equinox or in the making of an encore sport
You gotta be kidding about the $37K price!!! Are they crazy?
Better yet why is the MPG so poor?
I remember when Buicks where made in the US. Now its just the Enclave, verano, and lacrosse
He forgot a competing car: Volkswagen EOS...and EOS has a retractable hard top, which I prefer. I'd like to see a side-by-side comparison of Cascada and EOS.

Hopefully these are roomier than the Camaro.
A convertible for grandpas, awesome!
i love you, cuz your comment sucks.

Thanks for the comment but please note on MMUSA we drove both to Florida and Alaska.
walking through everyone's selfie like a boss!
GM said this won't sell well and I'd have to agree. I'm sure they will Jefferson good discounts on them.

"Jefferson"

Offer ≠ Jefferson.
+TJC450 Well I just bought one today and I love it. I was the second buyer of one in the same day.

The Chevrolet Cavalier and Chevrolet Cobalt is back as a Convertible.
looks too cute for me, like driving a kitten around when you're more of a dog guy.
I'll take a used 9-3 vert instead... Was really hoping to like this more :/
Technically, the southernmost point is America is on the Big Island of Hawaii. You should go check it out after going to the summit of Mauna Kea.
+Aaron Fink The sign said continental US. ;)
Maestro_T The sign is wrong because Key West is not connected by a land mass to the North American continent. It is an island.
Do they make the Eclipse any more, it could compete in that market? Nice looking ride for a Buick who've come a long way. Though Gm needs to do some more marketing on the Buick brand.

+The Fast Lane Car Thanks :-)
Petr, with all of the nice European cars readily available, why would you even consider this one?
+doraemonster916 I was interested in the Cascada mainly because of my budget since it's very hard to get a decent convertible or roadster for a good money. +Petr Benda Good choice, the new mustangs are quite nice! Enjoy your car
I don't know why more two doors don't have the automatic sliding seats? My 1994 Lincoln Mark VIII has it.
Sorry, reminds me off Chrysler 200 convertible
+DartdashcamSC It looks like the Chrysler 200 Concept car.
+Freeda Birda yeah it does because it's the American version of the opel .
did anyone else notice the "cow car" in the background at 8:22?
That is a beautiful car.
Those old guys sure were eyeballing the car.......
That's all Buicks audience is lol
+NickPookie93 Not as much anymore.
+NickPookie93 You're way behind the times.
Market segment? A "Stylish Rental". Very good ideal car for National and Enterprise rent a car oppose to the Chrysler Sebring or 200.
he said Buick put the car in a league with no competitors but I disagree. I think the VW EOS is the same category
In the uk that car doesn't even cost £25,000 for the standard model
this car makes me happy that we the taxpayer bailed out GM. What a fantastic example of engineering complimenting artistey...and all for under 40k! Outstanding!!!!

what about that weird bar that comes across the back seats?
The Cascada looks beautiful on the outside , but has a fairly grim interior which is where the Audi A3 convertible murders it.
Hey Roman, which do you prefer more? The Buick Cascada or the Volvo C70.
in Europe this car is indeed german engineered however do not think it offers reliability. its one of the highest depreciating car brands across Europe due to poor reliability. in the UK this car is re-badged as Vauxhall
Looks like a great rental car to beat the absolute shit out of.
a dated and rebadged Opel Cascada. Every sunny rental fleets wet dream
I'm sorry, but it bothers me that the grill lines are horizontal instead of vertical.
well, at least the rental companies will buy this
they should put the gs engine in it.
It's one thing you can't deny about GM; it doesn't matter whether the car's made in the US or Europe, it's rubbish.
OldsmobileMatt 420 My mother hasn't got a cat.
totally necessary, but really funny lol

+MrKeyboardCommando Totally disagree with you. I just bought the Cascada today and I love it. Gorgeous, luxurious, comfortable car. I owned two BMWs prior and they were fine, but obviously I like this better.
Did they pull it to 150 mph with a Corvette because 200 hp cars don't go 150 mph.
+blackericdenice hah probably a wind tunnel?
zyuzin4 That make sense.

Opel Cascada ;) There are only Buick badges

Nice looking car but it's still a Buick. Maybe they should put a Chevy badge on it.
Sorry, but Southpoint on the island of Hawaii is the most southern point in the USA, you know Hawaii is the 50th state right?
...

American GM - German Opel - Polish car
Looks too European for a Buick 😬
i doubt it will sell, its an old model re-badged as a buick, hense the lack of push button and sensors etc.
good point
+youfermont And then it'll litter up the Enterprise used car sales lots, where they will be snatched by college girls who want to have a fun convertible for cheap.
I like the style but I'm sad that the interior has the old GM design. It seems find of underwhelming for the price tag too.
Reminds me of the VW Eos
i fucking love the keys
i smell a Florida rental fleet....
vw bug convertible competition perhaps?
it looks like a volkswagen eos.
Please put that motor in the new Cruze hatch...
Chrysler Sebring is that you?
1.6l making 200 horsepower? kinda the like veloster turbo.
apparently Buick's future involves stealing Opel's shitty car lineup and slapping a Buick grill on it.
What about Puerto Rico?
Mexico has the Chevy Corsa
Chevy astra
Is there a hardtop model?
Opel Astra is the hardtop version of Opel Cascada.
Are you okay, you seem to be suffering from shortness of breath...
Let's give it the beans!! Uh oh, no beans :( The wheels look alright though.
