    how to calculate Stress Intensity factor (K1) from J-integral results?. did not get proper understanding from abaqus documentation.

      Yeah that's usually not an issue ... Can be easily calculated using a correlating J-int and KIc. Please refer to any fracture mechanics book or one of my publications: link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s13369-015-1569-1

    Thank you for your useful videos, I have a question for you. Using ABAQUS, how can I define surface cracks and corner cracks which are not extended through thickness! Considering both sharp and blunt cracks.

      I think surface and edge cracks in reality are the ones which have infinitesimally small protrusion through the object in 3rd direction. If that is correct define a crack using same methodology which is not too deep

    Also, if we vary the crack length in the same model, mesh will be removed and need to do mesh again. That time crack interface also need to be changed. How to handle that situation? I need to do Multiple model or parameteric analysis with different crack lengths in the same model in different regions. That's possible?

      I don't know any hack around that. After demeaning have to do it again anyways.

    Crack interface is necessary only for cimpressive stress region? Or in tensile regionntl too is necessary?

    • @FaisalQayyum
      @FaisalQayyum  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is important in the case of crack closure only.

      Yes it is only important to define crack face interface in case of crack closure.

    can you do radial surface crack on a shaft subjected to torsion?

    • @FaisalQayyum
      @FaisalQayyum  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be done, only a matter of time and willingness.

    kindly upload the files too, if possible

    • @FaisalQayyum
      @FaisalQayyum  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not possible to upload files on TH-cam also I think it is not a good idea due to compatibility issues of files with different versions of ABAQUS.
      Anyways, If you need a certain file... I surely can share that with you on email.
