She's clearly been getting some help from the comments, and is not geared like a normal player would be. But she is playing pretty well considering she's only been playing for 24 hours at this point.
that first attack of ornstein (dashing charge) shows how good kanata has gotten to be, the speed of that dash catches most people off guard the first time, so much potential being tapped from our great tenshi, id go as far as to say she could rival aqua/luna in terms of skill if she plays this long enough.
Just a comment i want to hide but comparing this to asmons first time you see the diff of someone who isnt too stubborn to learn and takes their time but asmongold is still great cause in the end he got throigh the game

She spent more time fighting the Titanite Demon outside than she did fighting these two. I saw the amount of damage her sword did to Ornstein (relatively little) then next thing she's cleared it.
To be fair, Noel didn't try to exploit the pillars until much later, Kanata on the other hand is doing it on her 5th try. And she also figured out an ideal opening to hit smough on her 1st try against his phase 2. Noel's first bosses felt like she was tryin to brute force her way through lol
BK Sword isn't a top weapon, tho, it isn't as brokenly op as other weapons like: BK Halberd, Great Scythe, Dagger (yes, the base dagger), Gold Tracer, Zweihander. It's a good weapon but that's it. Her victories are mostly due to skill. I would place BK Sword together with Claymore, 'Mustard' Sword, Falchion, BK Ultragreatsword, Chaos Blade as A tier weaponry.
She's honestly cracked, her ability to intuitively feel out timing windows of attacks and understand immediately how many swings she can make with her weapon is superb. No wonder she beat them so fast, she plays like someone with hours well in the hundreds tbh.
One of my favorite fights in the game! They can feel almost impossible when you're going in blind, but she did really good on keeping distance and taking on one at a time, what a great job she's doing! The BK sword she is is strong, but if she's not leveling strength and stamina then it's not much different from anything else. Personally I prefer the BK big axe and the poison club you can get from the boulder guys outside of Queelag's place.
Well, she's a better player than I was when I first played Dark Souls back in the PS3. I never beaten them back then. It wasn't until the remastered that I went back and finally beat them.
It's amazing how far FromSoft's boss fight formula changed. Here, patience really rewarded Kanata. Compared to elden ring where you need to attack at every opening to deal damage since the windows are so small.
I mean, DS3 plays like DS1 and that's the most recent game in the series. BB and Sekiro also played differently, so they're clearly changing the formula betweens series. I'd expect a DS4 to play more like this.
I mean I don't really think ds3 plays any more like ds1 than elden ring. ds1 is actually pretty jarringly slow compared to some other from soft titles.
The first time I beat the duo I flamed Smough to dead and then used the "pillar cheese/bow and arrow" on Ornstein. With Solaire as cannon fodder, of course. Is one of the hardest bosses of the game. A great fight.
When she first started playing, she looked hopelessly bad. Might have had something to do with playing on a keyboard, though. And then before I knew it, she became Perfect Parry Tenshi. I am very happy to see how far she's come.
I would say that she'll take a fewer tries than most or have an endurance stream, Kanata definitely has the intuition to think about the bosses' moveset in the middle of the fight. And Elden Ring bosses require that a lot since by the endgame the bosses would pretty much one-hit combo you if you ever fail to dodge. Unless you use an OP weapon/build, which is another way to play the game.
i doubt that. unless you watch a tutorial where you know what you're getting yourself into, there is no way to first try malenia, because she doesn't follow the same rules of the game like every other boss does, so nothing in the game could possibly prepare you for her.

@@canadiangopnik7007 among other things that some may argue about (like her healing off a 100% block, which is bullshit in my opinion, but then you can build bleed on blocking enemies so i guess this one is fair?), the two things that she is defo breaking the rules on are: her unique ability to cancel her stagger animation (which no other boss has) and how her hyper armour animations (which is most of her move set) make her immune to having her stance broken, which is something that otherwise only happens when a phase transition happens, for example godrick can not be stance broken when he starts to cut off his arm. what this does is that malenia, unlike every other human sized boss in the game, can punish you for punishing her, since she can cancel her stagger animation and either dash back, block or attack you, while you are locked into your attack animation. she can also just chain hyper armour animations, with zero frames in between, (like chaining waterfowl, into a back dash, making it impossible to punish) to avoid getting staggered altogether.
@@windhelmguard5295 contrary to popular belief, you CAN stagger Malenia out of waterfowl with a bleed or frostbite proc, so you can just use frost pots and reset her with fire damage, her only true hyperarmor attack is her scarlet aeonia, you can ALWAYS punish a waterfowl if your timing is right, her stagger cancel into half parry is awesome and doesn't give her any openings, it just stops you from comboing her, and she can't do it to everything. If it was something like the pillars in Maliketh's arena that he can hit you through because of his range, if he was the only enemy that could hit you through obstacles, then yeah I'd say that's really dumb, but Malenia is specifically designed to be able to half parry you, having a mechanic isn't "breaking the games rules" I've never lost a run to her half parry, I've lost the majority of my runs to her pulling out her lunging swipes attack and me dodging back on instinct instead of through her
That's more of a show of endurance and adaptability, Dark Souls requires a different play style than Sans and Undertale but I think it still taught her to adapt to attacks better which is part of why she clears things after minimal tries. She's even pretty decent at parrying even if it's her first Souls game

Goddamn I remember my first time taking on these bros. Took me 24 - 30 tries in a span of a few weeks. I had to stop playing for a while because I'd get frustrated at this part. I definitely did what Kanata did here and just wait for Smough to do his jump attack and go in and then rinse and repeat. I even analyzed all the moves he does if you get too close or too far. Good times😌

She's good but she can't beat pure luck. I won on my second attempt by the grace of Lady Fortune. I defeated Smough first, Ornstein absorbed him, and his first attack (a dash) glitched him out of the arena and he died immediately. My head-cannon is that he fell out of a window. Happened again with the Centipede but that was first attempt (even better).
DS 1 is the only game I become a Parry God and Backstabbers. The window to parry is larger but inconsistent. But slowly stop parrying and backstab on DS2 and so on. It's not until Elden Ring I change my playstyle, dual wielding, ninja, so many play style.
I don't think I've ever seen the AI pull so many punishable hammer slams in a row without a single AOE attack or charge. Did she figure out how to manipulate the RNG?
That last attempt didn’t look like it was a winning attempt. She pulled through it though, and there’s no shame in using the black knight weapons to do it. First playthroughs need this kind of support when you’re going solo.
Now she knows why Anor Londo is called "An@l Rodeo". In fact, they are not that complicated, they are simply broken. Smaug's Hammer works like a wall, blocks 100% damage and he doesn't even react to it. Orshtein likes to use Smough's ass tug. In doing so, he gets stuck for a split second, but slides off and suddenly continues to jerk out of Smough's side. In addition, this game is simply not suitable for 2 bosses.
I died more than 5x against Soldier of God, Rick when I 1st played elden using M&K lol. These days whenever I start a new game, it feels odd seeing lots of bloodstains there...

Looking at the comments, I can see nobody remembers that Kanata took over 300 attempts and still beat Sans. Dark Souls 1 is child's play to her
