    For all people saying get a unimog, this daily is not competing with a unimog. This is in the same range as a mercedes sprinter 4x4,

      Martijn Jonkers How does it compare to a sprinter?

    • @GdaySport
      @GdaySport 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @BertNL the sprinter daily does not have the twin solid axles and triple difflock or body on chassis, let alone transfer box with double reduction low range, or hill descent, or ground clearance... So nothing like it imo....

    • @norsenomad
      @norsenomad 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nissan Patrol GR 3.0 Di Turbo They are different, yes. Anyway, Mercedes does actually offer Sprinter 4x4 Cab Chassis variants, both single cab and double cab, both with 110 mm body lift for more clearance than the 2WD Sprinter models. And there is a transfer box 1:1.42 low range available as factory option.

      Are you serious. Sprinter in any 4wd configuration can't compare with the Iveco.

    With Toyota Landcruisers getting too small and its towing limitations
    And F150's being too $$$ here
    This IVECO configuration will find its market, if it is priced right.
    Overlanders, FIsherman, Parks Management going to love these

    The Iveco Daily 4x4 reminds me of a Unimog. In North America one is more likely to see a Unimog more then one would see a Iveco. Both appear to be great vehicles and without a side by side test it would be challenging to differentiate between the two. There is room for more information in a video on the Iveco Daily 4x4. Like the height, width, cargo carrying capacity, engine displacements, transmissions, turning radius, accessing the rear box and price. And this could be accomplished with an onscreen table that includes the specifications. I would suggest a table that has both metric and imperial measurements as this would more readily provide quick information for all who are interested in this vehicle. Overall the Iveco looks like something that travellers would consider as it has the capacity for a lot of off road applications.

    Easily the WORST vehicle i have ever come across in my 12 years working in the mining industry, there is a reason everyone drives Landcruisers and Hiluxes. The company i work for bought 4 of these ivecos at a cost of $125000 AUD each. We use them as mine Vehicles and right now, 3 of the 4 of are in limp mode. All are 2 years old with less that 70000kms on them.All 4 have had the Cab mounts on the front break off, which essentially means the cab isn't connected to the chassis, all 4 have had transfer case mounts replaced twice in 2 years, while i was replacing a clutch i removed the gearbox and was astonished by how light and small it was. Its not fit to be offroad, its a jacked up van made with cheap, under engineered and bad parts. We have a fleet of 10 year old 400000kms plus Hiluxes and Landcruisers which we were hoping to retire and swap out for these ivecos but that will never happen but the Hiluxes come to the rescue regularly. We will be lucky if the ivecos see 100000kms. Do yourself, your family and your pocket a favor and stay clear of this Fiat Punto on steroids.

    Front and rear differentials will always split torque 50-50 on a surface with equal traction. The diff locks just ensure this always happens

  • @Iowarail

    Heavy steering builds strong core.

  • @ldmtag
    @ldmtag ปีที่แล้ว

    Locked diff doesn't split torque 50:50, if it did the unloaded wheel would've spinned like if the diff was unlocked, cos that's exactly what an open diff does - splits torque 50:50. Locked sends torque to the wheel with traction, that's why it doesn't spin the hanged in the air wheel, it has almost 0 torque.

    Make sure you get your facts straight when going into (slightly!) technical stuff. A locked differential doesn't split torque 50-50, an *open* one does that. A locked differential ensures same rotational speed of axles, avoiding having all "speed" going to a wheel off the ground (100% locked).

    Great vehicle, good review. Its fairly priced too for what it is. I would prefer if it had a higher towing capacity though, 3.5T seems low for something of this size.
    Only issue I had with the vid, is that i was looking forward to seeing how the slow the Daily crawl down the hill using the reduction gears but it seemed he still had it in a higher gear as oppose to it's lowest 100:1 ratio.

    Canadian Military bought the license to build these in Canada in the nineties. I helped trial them. It was a complete pile of crap. Underpowered, axels constantly breaking, hard on fuel (diesel), getting stuck in mud puddles. Canada still bought them. They must have improved a lot but I doubt it. I’d like to see that drive the telegraph road to cape york and who has the balls to attempt the telegraph pole bridge, barley wide enough for a 70s landcrusier or take it up to the Vic high country, does it have grappling hooks shooting out the sides for lean in that terrain good luck following a 70up there and staying panel dent free and or self recovery if she tips on her side! it does look capable in certain terrain but I’d also like to see some basic review showing you or someone changing a tire for us! do an oil change for us! replace an axle or bearings, do that on the side of the track on your own not in a workshop then show me how good it is. not hating! these are just some basics any person seriously touring or off roading should be able to do to there vehicle esp if doing outback routes in Aussie.👍

    He gets all dramatic and says the lockers "come in handy for situations like this" then drives through a puddle....... You don't lock diffs for small mud puddles my Camry could handle... I JUST finished an off road driving course where we used old and new 4x4s with and without lockers to lear exactly how lockers work and when to engage them... They are meant for undulating terrain that causes articulation to a point that makes the vehicle think it's turning so cuts power to the tire that has the most weight on it, which is where you need it, causing you to get stuck.. When a vehicle turns the outside tires rotate faster and a differential allows that to happen.. Undulation makes a vehicle think it is turning and you lose traction.. Locking the differential allows you to keep both side spinning at the exact same speed which isn't good for overall handling so why it is of the upmost importance to know when and how to use them correctly

    Not sure how they claim a 100:1 reduction - one lever is 1:1.3, the second, for the split second it's in focus, is 1:3, that's 1:3.9 reduction total. You'd still need more than a 1:25 reduction in 1st gear to get to 100:1.

    One major issue... it’s a Fiat, you have to tolerate the same no after sales crap that Jeep buyers do plus chance getting a lemon just like a Jeep buyers do: Fiat brought trucks out here (Australia) years ago and you can still find broken down abandoned ones in the outback: Jeep win heaps of off road stuff but, none of that has anything to with reliability... Mitsubishi and Toyota make 4x4 trucks and buses, best spend your money on one of those. BTW, I had an Iveco prime mover for two weeks for appraisal once, 520hp and near 2,000 lb/ft of torque, it was great to drive... when it wasn’t breaking... warranty you say, what good is warranty when you’re halfway along the Gunbarrel Hwy or Canning Stock route? Would you trust this truck to do either of those? I wish I could say Yes but unfortunately No Way.

      Yes, and Iveco doesn't want to acknowledge it! if you're referring to the trial and tribulations of Don Incoll then others should check it out at goingbush.com/iveco4.html and judge for themselves. Don loves the vehicle but NOT the Transfer Case nor the Brakes!

      I have had my twin cab Iveco Daily 4x4 for four and a half years now and have logged up 55000kms. Other than the transfer case breather blocking up causing a mild oil leak through a seal it's been perfect. A little rough on the ride as was to be expected but probably no worse than as Toyota troopie but I love it.
      Like Don I tow a mid size caravan at times and with the van brakes adjusted properly I have had no troubles on hill descents etc..
      Re the transfer case circlip popping out I think there is only one reported and that was on the Canning Stock Route.
      I recall Iveco Aust did a service call and replaced the box on the track.
      I use the truck as a daily driver to work in Sydney and on weekends use it for towing a boat or caravan or beach fishing.
      Every where I park it creates conversation from all ages. 99% positive.
      People just love it or want one.
      I plan on doing the Canning mid 2020 and will prep it further for the trip.
      I usually start hankering for a "next vehicle " at the five year mark but this one has me.
      Stacks of room inside. Wide enough for me to sleep almost straight accross the back seat if I need to. If you want one you had better buy now because the next model is going "soft"
      Cheers Frank. G.

      my friends earthcrusier fits in car parking spots, that's one of the reasons he got it, also fits in a shipping container... Anywhere you can park a suburban or a dually truck you can fit one of these

    The ubiquitous Unimog and the daily 4x4 are not the same anyone wanna talk about servicing cost and cost and availability for parts? low hanging trees and other normal obstacles for average off road tracks? not to mention the ludicrous gas mileage of the unimog..best that its stays in the military where our taxes pay for all this military required spec and endlessly deep governmental bureaucratic pockets.
