I spent 29 years with GE, and one with Wabtec before retiring. There once were many businesses on this campus beside locomotive., Slowly they were all taken out. Aerospace, DCM&G, Speed Variator, Wind Gearbox, OHV.... I've worked in most of those, finishing in Locomotive Final Assm, Sta#1. I have a few videos on my TH-cam channel from within the plant.
this is an amazing place it is here that the Dash 9 is born. GE makes a lot of them the most recently they came out with the tier 4 version of the ES model of the dash 9.
Nice video! I’m making a DVD for the Erie area and I would like to get footage of the assembly operation at GE. Do you know anybody I could contact to get permission to film this like you did?
Unfortunately I do not have a contact. This video was made possible by a tour arranged by a waste water group my dad belongs to. Whatever you do, do it fast before GE Erie shuts down.

too bad this operation was done away with in favor of moving the assembly to texas, even after a century, though they still have some parts presance in the area of penn, but the assembly was done away with, and ge looks to want to spin off its mining and locomotive division to focus on other buisness, according to trains magazine, its lean times for building new stuff for use on the rails.

I put in 35 years there. DCM+G 20 YEARS, AUX CAB locomotive 4.5 years, off highway vehicles, 4 years, locomotive main cab, 6.5 years.
