The nice thing about the game is how thematic it is. I have the old Reader's Digest book Discovery (it's been with me for almost 30 years!, and I read this a lot when I was a kid), and there is a whole chapter on Lewis and Clark's expedition. Sacajawea was essential in that trip, and glad to see how powerful she is in the game!
Honestly I'm impressed at you being able to play two peoples' games at once like that! Thanks for the great video I think this game would be fun for my group!
At @ 16:00 when Jen camped, you counted her remaining card but you did not take into account her two loaded boats. She should have regressed two spaces back on the river. A game changer mistake?
Grejam53 caught that too just now
At 28:38 the character Nicholas Jarrot should only add +2 to the overall movement, not per activation (rules for the character state "...add 2 spaces to one movement on the river [the strength give to the other character does not matter"]). Jen could still have used 3 buffalo to move a total of 8 though, or used a 2nd Indian when activating the Nicholas Jarrot card itself to double its +2 movement bonus to +4.
it was already noted at 9:24 and said that he would repeat that goof and no more notes would be made. Cheers
yes, correct, good point! :)
This game looks very cool. Thanks for the run through.
good point, note added
At 3.05 after Jen has done the camping action you move back her camp token in order to align it with her scout meeple...I'am afraid it's uncorrect as camping tokens can only be moved foreward and not backward.
It was already noted... thanks anyway
The ? means that I lose time = to the number of items in the boat. So in that case i lost 1 time because of the one pelt
28:55 I think that with 2 buffaloes but only one native on the +2 card (Jarrot) you could only move 6 spaces: 2 for the first buffalo+2 for Jarrot card + 2 for the second buffalo. If a second native would have been placed on the +2 card you could have gained the bonus twice and so move 8 spaces. Am I wrong ? Thank you for the excellent video !
it was already noted on the Klingon Subtitles at 9:24 and said that he would repeat that goof and no more notes would be made. Cheers
@19:45 that card you recruited should have been gone because Jen recruited the native americans. Correct?
only that i was a complete idiot and missed it. yes i should have put that last indian to work! good point :)
I believe at 28:00 you should have lost two time anyways because you forgot to count one of your boats. So Jen forcing you to go back another space didn't matter. Correct?
Let's see if I understand the rules correctly. At 7:50 you used your Commander with a Pelt symbol. Shouldn't Jen's guy activate 6 times instead (at 8:16) ?
not quite. he activates 3 times because i put three helper icons on him. so he does 3 of his actions, which in this case is moving, based on how much food, canoes, or horses you want to spend. after he's been played, he adds another pelt icon to the table, which means in the future, if either of us play a trapper card, we'll get an extra pelt for every time we activate that trapper :)
At 9.15 you add the +2 bonus to each move action of the Commander card. I'm afraid it's not the proper use of the bonus as it can be used only once per card and not per action..
It was already noted... thanks anyway
Who knew women didn't like to be called a big, bloated expedition? :p This game looks like a whole lot of fun. Thanks for the excellent run-through.
Sorr but You used Nicholas Jarrot incorrectly. I saw it in a discussion on BoardGameGeek too. He adds 2 spaces to one momevement on the river, not to each movement. The rules say it doesn´t matter how big the support of the movement character (leader etc.) is. So, if the leader has support 3 and has two food and one canoe and there is Nicholas Jarrot with support 1, a scout can move 2, 2, 4 plus just 2 spaces, so only 10 spaces in total, not 14 like You did.
It was already noted in the Klingon Subtitles at 9:24
When watching any video on Rahdo's channel, please always turn on the klingon subtitles to see on screen when he makes an error
At 16:13, you lost time for the boat with a question mark, but didn't talk about the question mark. What does it do?
Thanks for the clarification. That could be brutal if you don't watch your load too carefully.
At 2:30, is there a reason Jen didn't use a native american to activate Sackajewea (spelling?) a second time?
Oops... spoke too soon. I see you caught it at 16:50
15:34 - Jen should loose another day because of supplies on boats :)
Oh, it is corrected later on :)
and it was already noted on the Klingon Subtitles
Trying to understand the rules as I have this game and only played it once and screwed it up! At 3:30 you powered up the commander once but there were other yellow symbols out. Did you only do it once because you had only 1 food to spend? I hope that's correct so maybe I'm starting to get it!
+Cathy Zampogna the other symbols have no bearing on the action of that card... that card is a move card and you can power it up to 3 times by placing a card with 3 colored indians on it or by placing indian meeples on the blank spaces...
Since Richard only had 1 Buffalo it wouldn't help him at all to power the card more than once...
The other symbols are used when you do Resource Gathering actions like taking Lumber or Food, etc when you perform those actions you multiply the strength of the action you are doing with the number of matching symbols on your player board and on your neighbors player boards and that's the amount of that type of resources that you can collect with that action
+Paulo Renato Ah! Ok! That makes so much sense! You only use multiple cards for gathering resources. Thank you!!!
dont ever use the words wife and bloated in one sentence ;)
38:14. Rahdo you make me laugh. Great looking game and excellent review.
Another great run through........if occasionally a little 'bloated'........ooooops sorry!!
