- The Popularity Of The Overshirt - In this video the British Dapper discusses the overshirt.
He discusses the history of the overshirt, created for use by railways workers and engineers in the 1800s in France. This garment spread in popularity around the world and is now commonly known as a chore jacket. how it inspired generation in the late 50's and 6o's to wear this very robust workman's garment in a casual manner.
He talks about the Pendleton board shirt and the continued suggest of the company and the continued influence of this shirt/jacket style. How it is very popular in the UK presently and how as a casual statement piece it can be used to upgrade with ease from that jeans, t shirt or hoody look.

Chris I have two chore jackets one Carhartt. I also have a wool plaid over shirt red and black check I sometimes wear as a jacket. Mostly for yard work. When out and about I will wear Barbours. Cheers Ron
Well done once again Chris. Spot on in every regard. When casual dress is the call, a fine wool over shirt can be a great alternative to a tweed jacket. Pendletons never get the "too dressy" eyebrow in a crowd. Yet they always render compliments. Thanks for mentioning them. Although the Pendleton is as casual as I go, they are a cool weather favorite of mine. With my reefer coat they are even good when in cold conditions. Add a Harris Tweed baker cap with some nice gloves and I'm good to go. Cheers

I just said no to a check flannel overshirt today at Costco... Maybe I was wrong to do so. Weatherproof too I think my lady said

Great for outdoor activities that may cause one to get dirty; i.e. hiking, chopping wood, working in the garage, etc… or if we just need to layer up and head out to the store, pub, etc…
