I love how Sam sat facing away from Ellie just so he wouldn't see her when he turned and attack, He knew he wouldn't hear her get up. Still in his dying state he cared for her., What a show. Thanks for the reaction.
This one was actually very true to the game. The big changes are the Kansas City rebellion stuff is all made up for the show which changes Henry and Sam's backstory a fair amount and Sam isn't deaf in the game but otherwise its all pretty accurate. The shootout in the street with the sniper and then Joel taking over to protect the others is almost exactly the same. If memory serves me correct its even a car falling in a sink hole that wake up the infected around you. You do at one point find an underground pre-schoolish area with a castle on the door where Ellie and Sam bond and play some soccer. And the deaths happen nearly identically.
Edelstein, the old man at the start of the episode, didn't ditch Henry and Sam. He was caught by Kathleen's people while out scavenging for food. He was the doctor Kathleen executed in the last episode.
It's already been said, but yeah, that ending was pretty true to the game. I knew it was coming re: Sam and Henry, and yet that was the hardest I cried so far, and I cried hard when I played through that chapter of the game. Also, fun fact, that child Clicker? The actress is a gymnast and a contortionist, and honestly, that combination of acrobatics lends itself really well to an environment like this.
what i really liked about this episode was the addition of the child clicker. In game you’d never see infected children, but I think this makes the cordyceps more terrifying. Loved the video!
Honestly the only thing that kind of bugged me was that she was a clicker and still looked tiny. Isn’t that evolution supposed to take 10+ years? Unless the kid was infected as an infant and managed to not get taken out
I'm sorry for i have failed you Queen, i thought on episode 4 i commented letting you know that Episode 5 would air early on Friday instead of Sunday due to the Big game here in the US my bad lol!
A lot is very true to the game. The backstory for Henry and Sam is a little different, but the different sequences like the sniper in the house is in the game and is actually a pretty difficult segment to pass. The deaths of Henry and Sam are also exactly like the game. Also Sam isn’t deaf in the game and he was a bit older, I think like 10 or 11. One thing that does suck about adaptations to shows is how we don’t have enough time to show everything. In the game Henry and Sam are with Joel and Ellie for a decent portion of the game and you get to really see how they all start to bond as they are together for a couple of days. Which also makes their deaths more shocking bc they go through a lot of fights together and come out unscathed and it emphasizes that no matter how many times you survive, it really only takes one time for everything to fall apart.
In the game, you spent quite a lot of time with Henry and Sam, they have combined some of the scenes from the game in the show, like running from the trucks and the snipper scene, feel like that was combined, but in a way, it's pretty close to the feel of the game, the school/camp underground had the atmosphere of the game, not seen any mention it yet, but when they open the door, looks like an easter egg in one of the toyboxes on the left. Amazing acting, Sam and Ellie were the MVPs for me in this episode. The end was a bit different and shorter than the game, but it had the basics on point with great acting, this episode was shortened a lot, but it worked for a tv show
I was wondering why it came earlier too. Another one that completely broke me 😭😭😭😭 there were so many of them too. That was terrible. Amazing reaction and another amazing episode!! 👏 👏
Playing the game I was aware of Henry and Sam's ending, but it didn't make it easy, also being in the UK I seen it pop up and was like wait, is it Monday already lol
I kinda liked Kathleen getting got since it is a cautionary tale similar Captain Ahab in that story about a white whale. NEVER go full obsessive!! Congratulations Kathleen, you played yourself and lost Kansas City to the infected. Her brother would be so proud that she didn't heed his advice to forgive, smh.
Of course, Kathleen was there so quickly because the sniper told her when our group arrived. His job wasn't to kill them, but to give Kathleen time to arrive and do it herself.
Yeah I keep thinking I'm going to be prepared because I'm familiar with the game, but every week I end up bawling my eyes out and feeling like life is devoid of any meaning lmao. This show is doing the most.
If you’ve not watched the Chucky moves and tv series yet Ik you’ll love them! Also shout out for uploading at a time all the insomniac brits are awake 😂
12:57 "...isn't that really dangerous..." Yes and even if the blood is compatible, it has to be tested first for infectious diseases before transfusion IRL. Of course story-wise, Ellie is just a kid.
I know that Sam was deaf and he couldn't really talk either, except for laughter. It was interesting to see that the first thing he did was growl and scream as if once again the Fungus bypassed his limitations (albeit Infected Sam didn't hear Ellie approaching). I think the idea is not to really have us like a new character to just see them die, but to remind us that this is about Joel and Ellie being the LAST. Everyone else, as real as they are, are collateral damage. THAT aspect is what keeps it true to the Game because you play as them.
In the game there was no Kathleen. All you knew was that you came into town and it was full of raiders trying to kill you. You run into Henry and Sam in the city. Down in the tunnels they actually encountered a bunch of infected. They see the same play area and house rules board. Sam and Ellie actually play soccer with the same "goal" written on the wall down there too on the video game. Further in they find out the people living down there all turned to infected and they barely making it out being chased by all of them with Henry and Sam. Then the sniper scene happens and Sam gets bitten. It doesn't show you burying them afterwards either so the show hit really hard! I knew it was coming but it still hit the feels. RIP Sam and Henry! 10/10 episode!
Henry and Sam were running from Kathleen and Perry not Fedra. The Hunters were killing Fedra. The old man was the Doctor that Kathleen killed in Episode 4. The old dude was missing on purpose to keep them from continuing.
Also you have now met another level of infected like i explained b4 but chose to hold off on the next stage or name cause i knew it be shown on this episode, this is what a Clicker evolves into next, it's called a "Blouter", level 5 infected, they gave us a hint way back on Episode 2 when Ellie was walking with Tess & Joel & again on episode 4 when the ground was moving during the scene with Perry & Kathleen, that means that infected has been around for 20yrs. (Stages of Infected) Level 1: Runners Level 2: Wanderer Level 3: Stalker Level 4: Clicker Level 5: Blouter or Blowder Level 6: ? I won't say Level 7: ? Maybe in season 2 or 3 :)
scriptwiters, channeling billy jack: "each week, i'm gonna give you new characters, and i'm gonna whop you on that side of your feels. and you wanna know something? there’s not a damn thing you’re gonna be able to do about it.”
Kansas City is done. The infected are going to swarm the other survivors in the city like a tidal wave. Probably not all of their guns were there, but a majority had to be, because Kathleen was insane with her need for revenge and brought a small army to kill one man and his kid brother. It's tragic.
Welcome to the most heartbreaking part of the of the world of last of Us I cry to your every time I see that scene😢 Most traumatizing thing you'll ever see in your life 😢 The big creature thing is called a bloater the big dude the big infected dude they've been infected for at least 20 to years they're basically like super tanks armored within fungus growing all of their body That's why the machine gun didn't do deadly squat when the guy was shooting him😮 most terrifying infected ever😮
@@MonicaCatapusan I'm going to let you in on a little secret. In most video games, that's what happens. They either get killed by the next bad guy or they attack you, so you have to kill them. Especially in the single player games. They feel it helps move the story along. In apocalyptic type games, you can't have too many survivors. Many times, those who do turn out to be crazy anyway or turned into some kind of monster. Weird how that happens lol

There are no such limitiations. Deaf people can vocalize. They just don't do it, because there is no need to. The kid that played Sam IS deaf.

The rock-paper-scissors of The Last of US or at least this episode:
FEDRA beats Infected

Rebels beats FEDRA
