    I'm a pretty heavy dude and love appendix carry for my knife. Even my Esee 4 carries well there and I can get to it immediately. Highly recommend it on the opposite side of your pistol if you appendix your weapon.

    For those looking for an easy pocket sheath for small fixed blades.....
    1. Buy an MKM pocket slip (made for folding knives so not cut resistant). 2. Line the inside seams with resin (I like UV so I can harden it when I like the position where the resin has settled). Then bam, that's it. Easy pocket sheath with cut resistant seams. Easily slips into a pocket, over a belt, on waist bands, etc. The strong magnets inside help keep the blade from moving around as well.
    Will fit a good amount of edc size fixed blades (generally less than abour 3.25", not too slim not too wide) to include an izula.

    Pocket sheaths are great but I frequently need to access a knife while in the sitting or crouching position so its cross draw on the front of the belt for me. I didn't want a knife that would obviously print from under a T shirt, so the knife had to be small and bullet proof.
    Carried an Esee Izula 2 in 1095 for many years until recently when I upgraded to a Creely Mako in magnacut. Creely is one of those knife steel nerds who uses a lot of new or exotic steels. The Mako comes with a great leather pocket sheath with a ulticlip but I had a cross draw kydex sheath made for it. The Mako is a great blade, I highly recommend it. The handle looks a little weird at first but it just melts into your hand, very good ergonomic's. The difference in steel is very noticeable as well, the magnacut has gone 5 months of daily use with just one stropping. I still carry a skeletonized Izula 1 on a paracord dangler in my offhand pocket as a backup for the extra dirty jobs (had some fence wire wrap around an axle on my side by side, had to pry and cut it out).
    I do have my eye on a Lionsteel M2M for my next purchase, I hear good things about their blades. Looks like a heck of a knife in M390 but I'll still carry the Mako as my daily driver.

    I *always* carry a fixed blade. Used to EDC my Esee 3, scout carry with soft loops. The handle would always get caught on things and it would always feel off balance on my belt. Currently I carry a Bradford G3 Sheepsfoot in a Kydex sheath, at a 45° angle on my right kidney with a Tek-lok. I find this to be my favorite way to carry a fixed blade. The handle doesnt get caught on things, and it's more easily accessible than scout carry, IMO. Soon I'll be swapping in my new G3.2, once I receive the Kydex sheath. I'll probably set it up just like my current G3. Not a huge fan of Bradford's horizontal leather sheaths, personally.

    I’m so pumped I got selected! You are correct about Null Knives. The raiden is ti frame lock on bearings and made by reate. I’m a sucker for harpoon blade style and this has been an awesome carry! I’d checkout his other designs the voodoo and grace they are pretty cool!

      Look at the Esee Izula or Izula 2. Very tough knives with an idiot proof warranty for a very low price. I carry one on a paracord dangler in my pocket. Tie the paracord through the tip of the injection molded sheath that comes with the knife, measure the length of the cord so that you can put a loop that the sheath can pass through on the other end so that you can loop it around your belt or belt loop and have the weight supported by the paracord so it just dangles in your pocket. Just hook the paracord with your thumb to pull the knife and sheath out of your pocket, slide the hand down to draw the knife from the sheath. Easy, one handed operation. Only takes a couple of seconds to put on in the morning too.

    • @npenick66
      @npenick66 ปีที่แล้ว

      Forgot to mention, if you do like the Izula I recommend the black oxide finish or the stainless. Esee uses a thick protective coating on their blades that I feel is too thick and rough. The coating makes it a little harder to do fine cutting and will wear off eventually anyhow. If you do get one with the coating and don't like it you can use paint stripper to remove it from the blade area and put a vinegar patina for rust protection. There's plenty of vids here on how to do a vinegar patina but it's easier to just buy the black oxide or stainless finish.

    Based on what you have there I would recommend taking a look @ TKell knives as well as Winkler (& both are somewhat local for you). My fave is a Winkler neck knife called the Zipper (maybe ?) w/an etching of Grandfather Mtn. As I recall, they did like 4 different 'scenes' on those guys. Not sure they are still in production.

    Scout carry on the front (actually called appendix carry) shouldnt have the handle facing your hip. If you're left handed, the knife should be on your right side (hence the appendix name) with the handle facing toward your crotch. That way you can draw it with your main hand in a normal grip, or draw it with the offhand with a reverse grip. It's structurally stronger than having it on your hip (for your biomechanics, like elbow positioning, etc) so it's VASTLY harder for someone to prevent you from drawing the knife, and even if they do get control of your arm, you can simply move your hips back to draw the blade if you have a grip on the handle. Also if you get pinned by falling objects or something, you can draw it with either arm to cut yourself loose or something.
    Scout carry refers to it on the small of your back, with the handle facing outward like you mentioned. I like it for massive knives or daggers like Kabars because it keeps them *totally* out of the way while not in use, and it's basically the only option that allows you to sit down.

    I've been EDCing a Isula 2 quite often... great knife and very affordable and best of all, if anything happens, Esee has the best warranty in the business! I'm curious why you don't like scout carry (either front OR back) Taylor? I scout carry in the front using pull the dot straps... works great and low profile

    Have you seen or do you have experience with the NRS titanium pilot knife? It’s a titanium fixed blade, that my work uses regularly, and I can’t believe it hasn’t been picked up by the EDC community, the sheath is quality, belt friendly and ejects the blade handle into your hand when you hit the release..

    Hey Taylor I have watched ur channel since the original one, figure it's time to chime in. I love everything u do here, keep it up man!!! I also love fixed blades and hate scout carry. I been runnin kydex sheaths with rivets along the spine of the blade and found that u can use carabiner in the rivets and slide those through the belt. It's like a sort of horizontal danger system. I got the idea from the way vikings wear their seax knife.
