I liked this extended cut more than the theatrical cut. it has more breathing space compared to the theatrical cut. expecting more directors do the same.

I really like Vetri’s own critique. Not many directors really does this kind of reflection. Like what Gautam said, Vetrimaran is always finding his film while doing it organically. Really a sincere director for his audience. Francis Coppola does that. That’s why you will see most famous western directors have many extended cuts. That’s what you will see in 4K or criterion releases. Wish to,see vetrimaran films in Criterion series. Really enjoyed all the three reflections about the film in this interview.

Tamizh and Malyalam cinephiles do not realize how lucky they are to have daring filmmakers like Vetrimaaran and Martin Prakkat who make films which speak truth to power. It is unthinkable for me to imagine a Hindi movie director coming close to making such searing movies like Visaranai and Nayattu. I would urge the Tamizh and Malayalam audience to keep going to see movies by such directors because their films are the only ones which are critical of authority, which is so refreshing to see while most of Bollywood is busy brown nosing the central government

Naa theatre la paatha Vada Chennai (outside India) is different from what is available on OTT now. Background score is different in some places, some scenes were different, some dialogues too.
I don't know if that was the director's cut, but that's the Vada Chennai I liked more.

just watched the director's cut.. the movie flows so beautifully in this cut, not sure why VM chose to cut these scenes for theatrical, never felt a drag or any slowness... Glad he released this to the public... Thanks BR for the interview.

Watched Viduthalai Director's Cut on ZEE 5 - A refreshing and yet much more intense watch. The 12 minute extra unedited run time gives us an unique experience. Vetrimaaran's cinematic brilliance is just pure Magic on screen. Can't wait for the second part. 🤞🤞❤️🔥

The scenes in extended cut actually distracted/ deviated a lot from the original story. Glad vetri didn't release the extended cut in theatres.

Sir, I honestly don’t know how one can become victim of globalisation. I have benefited out of it. All the people who are working in IT services industry benefited out of it. And you as director released the uncut version in OTT and sure as hell you are benefitted out of it. If you can make movie/documentary/speech about how globalisation victimised you, then it can help people like me to understand your commentary better.
