It's been a while since i've cleaned my Traxxas TRX-4. How often do you clean your RC CARS? 🤔
I clean mine after every run cause of all the water, mud, leaves and god knows what I put it through...
I clean it every time I run it. Especially after mudbaths i clean it and grease it ☺️

That was strangely hypnotic! I used to cleaned mine religiously (full strip!) after nearly every run, now it’s every 3 runs, I’m slacking.

Lookin sharp after removing all the accumulated gunk. A good tip would also be to check and re-oil the bearings, wouldn't want that to fail and ruin your fun on the next run

@@Gavins_Crawler late reply but, marine grease. little bit thick at first, but it thins out, keeps water out. To do so you take them apart and apply a small amount to any gears. Tedious, but saves water from getting in and having to replace things. Ive also heard plasti dip is good for certain electrical leads such a servos and batteries (where the wire enters the battery, NOT the end you plug in)

Great video! The Traxxas waterproofing is impressive! Not sure I'm brave enough though!😀
I use an air line to clean dust off ours, a slightly more gentle wash for mud! 😀 I run contact cleaner though the motor, then machine oil the bearings. I give the chassis a spray with silicone oil to finish. Good to see your Defender driving away after the bath!

Nice wee video. I thought you ment clean like service... Get the axle housings opened, drop the wheels off to pull the half shafts.
Blow out the motor with compressed air.
Also suggest you go dual stage foams on they wheels.
And i would swap out the stock 21t titan motor and the XL5 to something a bit more hobby grade, like a HW 1080... Or better yet a nice brushless system
Three times a year i do a full bearing change and once a year rebuild the gear box ;)

Trick 17,use a steam emitter and clean it carefully inside and outside, so you don't have to brush it.

S100 Motorradreiniger🤴, das nehme ich für meine Motorräder, da hat es sich seit Jahren bewährt (zerpraschte Fliegen bei 340 kmh auf der Verkleidung sind wirklich eine Herausforderung🤔) wirklich genial das Zeug, zehn Minuten einwirken lassen, (Zahnbürste kann man sich sparen) abspülen, fertig... trocknet auch noch fast fleckenfrei ab. Noch ein wenig "Bumper Spray" und "Speedwax" aufgesprüht und die Fuhre sieht aus wie neu, einfach mega gaiiil...😇 schonend, gründlich und Rost vorbeugend, "P E R F E K T",ohne zu übertreiben!!!👻

Not being a smartass but im genuinely wondering about the water in all the gears (or is waterproofed?) I imagine some sand would get in there. Im worried about, "great it clean" then a few days later i notice all the metal parts with surface rust.

When you finished cleaning your rc, you’re supposed to grease it up again cause if you get water into your aluminum parts, they could get rusted over time.
How do we grease it? Any tutorial?

I clean mine after each ride no matter what and inspect the drive line for any disturbance and do full service on it every two months or so, got my trx4 sport 9 months ago and been doing maintenance on it every month and going easy on the old girl, no problem so far not one thing wrong with it. Recently purchased a trx4 defender last week, just finished a full rebuild and inspection of the drive components, no issues at all, planning on keeping both of them running for years to come. In my oppinion, traxxas makes some if not the finest radio controller cars and trucks, my top favourite.
I've also been wondering how often do you do a rebuild on your rigs bud? I really enjoy your videos too, subscribed instantly
Do you wash them like he does with so much water? I just got mine and it feels off to pour so much water on electronics...
@@k9px well it really depends, if I went through mud then yes I’ll defenetly use the hose on them and then dry them off with the air compressor to remove the excess and I’d say those electronics are hella waterproof🙌 and no worries, at first I felt it was weird to do so too but it works really well as long as you dry them off after to prevent corrosion

@@RC_Plus 기본적으로 서보모터는 방수고, 배터리는 잘 모르겠습니다. 딱히 물에 박아넣을 만한 상황이 없어서요.
나머지는 다 방수입니다만
추가로 회로기판 위에 완정한 방수 목적으로 실리콘을 도포할 수도 있습니다.

Yes, but make sure you put some WD-40 afterwards to the bearings

Don’t be afraid i have a defender too and i clean it always, especially after mud, all you need to make sure is to let it dry well thats it, and i do go into water and rivers a lot, i think traxxas trx4 is really impressive in that ! Really strong. So don’t worry 👍🏻

@@RCMikeStudio attention il y a 2 modèles, le 4 litres et le 7 litres je conseille le 7 litres qui te permettra de ne pas avoir à le remplir plusieurs fois pour le nettoyage. Il te servira aussi très bien si tu as un VTT 😉

Ich putze meinen auch immer in der Badewanne mit der Duschbrause xD bin aber dennoch immer sehr Vorsichtig wenn es ohne Karosserie weiter geht, Zwecks der Elektronik. Bei mir ist zwar auch alles Waterproof im Axial SCX10 2 mit Hobbywing 1080 Regler und Brushed Motor. Aber man hat dennoch immer ein schlechtes Gefühl dabei 😬. Mal sehen wann es sich beim Motor bemerkbar macht, in der Regel stecken die Wasser ja dennoch ganz gut weg.
Ich habe bisher 1 Motor durch starken Schlamm gesprengt. Aber nur mit Wasser hatte ich nie Probleme :)
@@RCMikeStudio Ja gut das kann dann schonmal passieren. Sieht man ja bei einigen Videos hier auf YT. Die Motoren rauchen auch immer oft im Schlamm ab. Reine schlammfahrt hat meiner noch nicht gesehen ;-). Geht aber gleich auf eine Tour in die Kiesgrube.

the trx4 defender has served me for about two years and hasn't broke (yet...) it is mostly stock with the exception of a weight kit and tires. I wanted to get the sport because of the body but I can definitely recommend the defender. Best of luck!

I know it says "WATERPROOF" on the box but i would not hose the inside bits...
Yeah it's scary the first time, but i've done it so many times, and had zero problems so far!
Just dont spray directly into the wire holes and there is no issue. Only think not water proof is the receiver. And thats in a very wager resistant box so long as its kept greased. :)
I drove mine literally through a river. That hose aint going to do nothing.

Well if that everybody call cleaning.😂 Well any can pour water on it and pass a toothbrush with liquid I think degreaser. and dry the body rims with a towel. 🤦 I would have also used a blower. or at least a hair dryer to dry metal parts where water penetrates. 🤷

Hey, I finally got my own TRX4. I examined the under carriage and i noticed that the motor had 2 expoosed wires soldered on to it. Is that really safe to submerge? I don't know much about this. but it looks to me like an instant short-circuit? Please educate me.
I don't know neither.. But, given that i submerged mine several times, without any short-circuit problems, i guess is fine.
