Dude, you are genius. My window regulator motor was bad, or so I thought. It would not move up, and no door open drop. So I bought a new motor. Put it in, same exact thing. It moved like 2 inches. I had no idea what was wrong. That door "switch" in the door striker, what a heck is that for ? I bet that is my issue as well. I took out and put in the motor/regulator 8 time so far, using a new motor old regulator, old motor old regulator, a tested and supposedly good working regulator with old motor and new motor and same crap. I mangled that out of frustration so I'm back with my old reg and new motor. If it does not work, I am selling the car. Let somebody else have a stroke from this. I am going to give it one more try with that switch. Why would it have a switch in a door lock striker though ? What a heck is it doing there besides frustrating the heck out of owners ? Thank you ! AND IT WORKED !!!! What a nightmare saga for 3 weeks, so much time... the switch had to be pushed once and all works. Thank you Dude !
It’s because it lowers and raises the window every time you open the door. So make sure that switch is actually working. I literally just melted some extra zip tie on mine to make it bigger and that fix mine because it’s usually not to switch it’s just literally worn down on the knob

@@BlakesGarage my e36 cupe want roll down or up windows when doors are closed, if you have any idea why is that so please hit me back, i think that switches on doors are working properly because every time i close or open the doors windows moves as it should be, thanks so much, and that front seats was really beautyfull
Blake in the future you should use rivnuts so you can easily replace and service the regulator in the future. Sucks us bmw owners have to plan for future failure lol

My window does go up and down but stops about half an inch from closing. Is there a temporary way of fully closing it until I replace my regulator? I’ve tried pulling the window up but it’s just stuck.
I had both sides not working and just cleaning and re lube of the mechanism got them working again flawlessly.

@@oldwortex5818 it sets limits. Using the switch resets that after you let it go up bunch of times

Mine won’t snap into the plastic piece. One side does but it falls out even after replacing and lubing it several times
You replaced the plastic guide piece? That’s probably the bad part I’d guess or the regulator is bent.

I think I showed in this video but use the door switch. That’s what is misaligned for you. Your limits are off.
My regulator goes too high when I installed it, it goes up to far so you hear like a crunch noise in the window, is there a way to adjust that?
