The final part from this first visit to Maenofferen Mine. Having reached the lowest level we return to the surface, exploring on the route out. At the surface we find the Cookes level where an experimental boring machine was first trialled

Hello, this is the largest slate mine in the UK, primarily it produced roof slates known as Welsh slate here and used on many of the victorian houses. Welsh slates were explorted to Europe and America too.
