I have been ridding Go for Gins daughter that was sent to slaughter in 2015 for a while now. She is a beautiful horse that definitely deserved the second chance she got. I am disappointed that they would even send her to slaughter in the first place, even though she was to old to race anymore. This is way to common today. She is now a hunter jumper and is around 14.
Slop made all the difference. I looked for sloppers that day and plunked my money down on Go for gin who had the heritage. Bet Exacta 6-all. Woo-hoo. I bought my family dinner that day.

Oh, hey ABC- it really stinks the way you dissed Gin and Chris after a beautiful and masterful run by Gin, and a brilliant ride by Chris. . . Watch the video replay again. Gin led 'wires to-wire. Chris never once used his stick on Gin, even when a challenger moves up towards the end. Pay close attention as Gin turns on the afterburner when he catches the challenge come from the corner of his eye. LOL. Gin said Not Today. Gin's going to show y'all who the man!
Fluke win as that horse never won again😂🤣.Also fluke bad race by holly bull. He won 13 of 15 races that he finished! That’s why he’s in the hall of fame 👍

I remember in one of the drf capsules, they said about Bluming Affair - no bluming way. Bluming Affair runs third and pays $8. Go for gin loved the slop and was a logical wager if the track came up wet.
1st bet i ever made... go for gin $20 on a 10-1 shot. cashed my $200 ticket and blew it on a pair of ray-ban sunglasses and basketball sneakers. ahhh to be 16 and horrible with $$ again, the memories

I just read an article that said his trainer was convinced he was drugged. And there are other conspiracy theories about it. That horse seemed way to good to run like that.
Remember this race like it was yesterday, I pick the ex and trifecta 3 times. I was at the bar in the old Suffolk down in Boston mass , I was sitting next to a father and son I remember talking to them about it, I show him an tall him the I love this 4 horses hi look at it and say the hi loved. We play together the race I play and my own so the he and his father they pick the ex and trifecta like 5 to 10 times. We almost went to jail for screaming to much . If anyone knows a guy name ERiC from North carolina, . Let him know.
Mike Smith felt terrible and blamed himself for Holy Bulls loss. He made Holy Bull a promise: If Smith ever got to ride a son or daughter of Bull's in the Derby, he would win it to make it up to Holy Bull. Years later Smith rode Giacomo, Bull's son in the Derby, and he won it. Smith kept his promise.
The only time in my life that I ever picked a winning horse in the derby....paid 20-1....i was only 15 years old and went with my dad to see a bookie in a bar....my dad bet on his house then handed me a 20 dollar bill and said pick us out a winner....as I was going thru the names on the spread sheet I heard someone in the back ground tell someone else that go for gin was gonna win it because he was the best "mud horse" and never lost a race on a wet track....so I put 20 on him to win and my dad had to give all our winnings to my mom ....knowing my dad I doubt she received all of it....all I got was a Pepsi and a disgusting pickled egg out of a jar behind the bar.... I could have gotten a pickled pigs foot instead but the pickled egg looked alot safer and possibly tastier....but I'll never know because I'll be damned if I ever eat a pigs foot.....especially one that was floating in a jar full of red liquid....tines have changed alot since 1994....you don't see pickled eggs or pig feet in a jar behind the bar anymore....id like to see the expression on the face of a recently turned 21 year old girl upon placing a pickled pigs foot in front of her to eat.
Worst beat ever. I had Go For Gin on top, all but Strodes Creek for second, and ALL for third and fourth. I thought I was about to make the score of a lifetime instead...nothing.

My first horse bet ever and I won. I only did it two other times so yes, very lucky.
Gin has an Instagram. Oldest Derby winner still alive.
I wanted Holy Bull to win, but . . . I did not like the winner, nor Dave 'blonde' Johnsons' race call.

The jockey explained what happened to Holy Bull, he just wasn't feeling it
When you don't allow the best horse to just do what he wants.
What he wanted to do was to turn around and go home

Looked liked the Bull was way to laid back. Didn't fire, when Mike asked for run he didn't respond. Wonder what he ate or drank????
I just read an article that said his trainer was convinced he was drugged. And there are other conspiracy theories about it. That horse seemed way to good to run like that.
@@theregoesone3225 Holy Bull was always susceptible to the occasional clunker.
I believe the theories. The Bull was hard as a rock. and never ran that poorly
@@trentrez6643 Some horses can only run well 80% of the time. Secretariat was another example

i remember getting 10-1 on go for gin
Go For Gin never won another race after the Derby.
I suppose on that particular day he called on his 5th generation ancestor, Count Fleet. ;) Who he had, by the way, top and bottom.
His name is gin to win
Comon holy bull you know better
Typical Mike Smith, always blaming the horse.
