I keep falling down rabbit holes of this cast (yes, in 2021) and I just have to say how friggin beautiful it is to see the hearing cast members start using sign language in their conversations, even with other hearing people. I grew up with a friend that was deaf, and seeing that kind of exposure and normalcy with ASL is so beautiful. This was a freaking moment in time where something beautiful was created. And I’m so glad just a piece of it was documented

It really is a beautiful language in and of itself, and for it to be used in art forms such as theatre makes it even better. In my opinion, every piece of theatre should have ASL interpreters for accessibility and to add more layers to the story. DWSA was groundbreaking. It paved the way of accessibility on a Broadway stage, not only for Deaf and HoH actors, but even the first ever actress in a wheelchair.
