We all felt bad for 110, even the public wanted to cheer it up. Alan git jealous. And we got emotional over Qi adopting it. I know i did. It s a number !
i guess most russians watching qi on yt have decent enough english skills to not bother with subtitles. so there might be russian comments all over in english. but it seems the subtitles help with protection from copyright bots sinnce they are often still around when others have been deleted.
9:33 because -4-(-4) is zero, not eight If you have no sheep and owe someone four sheep, then you have negative four sheep (sheep to give away are negative) If someone gives you four sheep so you can settle your debt (four sheep to give away = -4 sheep) then you end up having none but also owing none
Hmm... are you sure that's the right analogy? It may be mathematically correct but not in reality, twice -4 would be like you owe four sheep and then you owe four to someone else, that doesn't make zero.
@@DerEchteBold except I didn't use twice negative four That would be 2(-4), which only involves one negative in the multiplication section I used subtracting negative four, which is -1(-4), which is two negatives in the multiplication section
@@hihogandalfaway I have no idea what you're talking about. In your initial post i can see -4 and then another -4 with a minus between the two, that's what I'm referring to. And if that doesn't mean what it looks like ...well no wonder so many people hate maths.
@@DerEchteBold Oh, I think I get what you're saying now A better way of wording it might be: You owe a debt of four sheep (-4), when that debt is removed (minus -4) the net effect is that you now have zero sheep but also no debt - which essentially adds four sheep to your total
WhooaHOAHHHHH, but it took me several repeats and many long pauses, before that number made sense to me! Golly - at my age, I don't know if that means I've gotten slower or smarter!
So, OK. Yes, prime numbers are divisible only by themselves and one - you got that right. Here's an explicit reasoning behind what I said earlier: Let's make sure that we are taking the operation of power as preceding subtraction. Now, we are operating on something that can be, in general for any natural number n, be written as 10^n - 1. for n = 1, 10^1 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9 = 3 ^ 2
10:44 agh I'm so annoyed by they "playing dumb" jokes. the explanation about the cyclic number was really not difficult to understand. Isn't it time the Qi guests go beyond that? It stopped being funny sometime in the A series...
Well, even though I don't like all the number stuff, I'd say there isn't really much to understand here, so you would be right... ...but I'm afraid most people actually don't understand it, or anything remotely to do with maths, they immediately zone out with things like this.
I think it's something which is pretty common with Maths, which is that it's really not complicated, but it's also incredibly difficult to explain it clearly and simply. So before you get it, and someone's explaining it to you, it seems really hard to get your head around, but as soon as you do get it you realise that it's actually a pretty simple concept.
Many people struggle with numbers. Many of the panelists are, over the years, visually evidently left handed, therefore right brained, and therefore, going by statistics, horrible with numbers, but much better at entertaining you.
they all looked like little kids during the call it was adorable
the whole thing was so cute!

I used the sheep example because that's what Sandi used but upon further inspection she *really* had no idea what she was saying 🤷

0:43 Where did that "fuck off" come from?
The translator is quite crap.
It comes in rather close to Alan..
Does anybody k now what sort of cake they had? It looks delicious. :3
My first phone number was seven. It was in the small village of parkeridge in Hertfordshire.
33:19 Me right now being 29 haha, oddly creepy lol
I want that cake so bad 😢
But they sell nuggets in 4s now🤔

Is that the right Swedish number on the screen??
It was!
7:29 How on earth did they get that number? 10^74207281-1 only has 74207281 digits, and that's obviously larger than that prime.
I do not know what you just said. But I'm sure it was quite interesting.
10^74207281-1 isn't a prime. It's divisible by nine, like any power of ten minus one.
Daniel Devac By definition a prime number can only be divided by one, or itself. At least, that's what I've been taught.
But since I'm not into mathematics, I may have gotten the calculation completely wrong. And - more importantly - have misinterpreted what you wrote.
