This stick should not fail that quick with your usage. Bummer!
I couldn't agree more! I have other grips which I have been using for a decade or more and haven't failed me yet. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers
Sorry to see this happening to you. You said that you are making your own grip reusing the guts from this one so it seems there is a silver lining to it after all.
I appreciate your sympathy. I guess that's one way of looking at it LOL.
Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers
have a quick question, the analogue stick was it a square peg?, as you can get metal upgrade kits for Xbox controllers with magnetic extensions, that let you change the length on the fly and have a more premium feel.
the reason i ask it hesitant to take mine apart if not compatible.
It is really complex to take this grip apart, at least I felt this way. The analog stick is impossible to get to unless the entire guts are taking out and I have never seen in my lifetime a grip which is held together with such a ludicrous amount of hot glue. Watch my upcoming video about it before taking on such endeavor. I will have some detail images on discord and on my website soon. Thanks for commenting and watching my video! Cheers
thanks man i will do@@crashmetwice
@@TheCrash1983 Awesome! Cheers
I bought this grip two years ago to try it out. Used it about 3hrs total. It’s been on a shelf for two years under its Virpil cover. Took it out last week and that same piece fell off when I picked it up. Not what I expect from Virpil!
Sorry to hear that! It seems to me that the glue their using decays with time. Mine is also a bit over two years old (mildly used). If you don't want to use the method I used in the th-cam.com/video/fIQgGqTogIU/w-d-xo.html video, I would think that a fine amount of contact cement could work. I have successfully "unglued" contact cement (Gorilla Glue Clear Grip) with small droplets of Goo Gone if you have to regain access to the switch. Just a thought. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers
Noobifier had the same issue. Fixed in the prime I think, well he certainly thought it was better. I guess only time will tell.
Good to know that I am not the only one. Yes, it seems to be fixed in the Alpha Prime. It is now a plate held in place by screws and no longer a part of the plastic housing itself. On how much better this is I will have to wait and see. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers
Looking forward to seeing your autopsy of that grip. 👍
Autopsies are my specialty :)
It's done just needing to edit the footage. Be prepared for a lengthy video as it has been a tremendous amount of work getting that grip to come apart. There was such a crazy amount of hot-glue to fight with that I almost gave up. That's from a guy which loves to take things apart. The video will be coming soon, please stay tuned. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers
