Personally, I'm not a big fan of the amount of dauntingly long gauntlet levels I'm seeing here, but jesus christ the spectacle of some of these stages is incredible. So much visual polish that goes a long way. Levels like Lightspeed and ESPECIALLY Colossus stood out to me. The idea of climbing up a giant moving mech and avoiding its attacks being seamlessly woven into the level design itself is GENIUS. Huge props to Cutsman for that added attention to detail. I'm definitely going to look into this pack myself at some point. Thanks for the community exposure as always, scrap!
I totally agree, a lot of these stages were too repetitive, particularly the really long ones...they just seemed too gimmicky. I prefer shorter, challenging stages. But so many of the stages in this pack were absolutely unbelievable and amazing! Especially Lightspeed as you mentioned. Just the background music and the craziness of the stage is probably why that one in particular is my favorite of all!
@@TheSpookyKing I'll never understand people who criticize anything for being "gimmicky". Calling something bad because its original and unique just seems so backwards and nonsensical to me, especially in a game like Super Monkey ball where being gimmicky is the whole damn point. But whatever, you have my opinion, I have mine. What I absolutely astonishes me, however, is how you call the longer stages repetitive. Repetitive is the last word one can use to describe this hack in general. Even in just individual levels the gimmicks are constantly being applied and used in all kinds of different and imaginative ways, and new obstacles are introduced around every corner. I will agree though, some stages can be very tiring. I appreciate the gigantic scope of the game, and I wouldn't cut a single inch, but its best played just a few levels at a time.
This is finally what got me to stop watching these packs be played and actually play one for myself! I really liked it, though some of the levels were crazy long and frustrating to die on, and I could have used a little less precision and more crazy physics and speed. Still, it was a very well-designed pack with some very creative stages; I especially thought the randomized stages like Battle Royale and Slot Machine were very cool, and stages like Apparatus and Visionary where your choices change the stage were ridiculously cool. The super-fast stages like Lightspeed and Perimeter were also very exciting, and the theming on stages like Derelict and Colossus was fantastic. In addition, it had great-looking backgrounds and catchy music (that stanky bass from the last world is still stuck in my head), and the riddle you have to solve to unlock the final batch of stages was very clever (still haven't beaten those last few stages, they seem very tough). Overall, a great introduction to the wonderful world of SMB2 ROMHacks, and I can't wait to play more!
This is spectacular. This is exactly what SMB story levels should be - super detailed and long and plenty of room for experimentation because you’re not managing lives. The scope and design is pretty much perfect! Bravo!
If only Sega was as dedicated on their own game as its fanbase, Super Monkey Ball would've claimed the title of best ball platformer of this year. For now Marble it Up has it.
Damn those are some really hard levels, it me quite a few tries to complete the later stages. I was pleasantly surprised to hear music from Mercury Meltdown on there since that's an underrated gem.
This is what a real Super Monkey Ball should've been, not the useless Banana Blitz remaster. We can feel the amount of creativity thrown in those awesome levels. I wish Sega cared about that... Great job!
Alot of these look like they would fight right in with the official levels. Some of the other ones look like they should be in a seperate mode for long levels.
TBH if there's one thing this entire comuntiy can agree on it's that SEGA wont make a good monkey ball game so we have to make the good monkey ball game ourselfs

Great levelpack! I love how the in-level music transitions to the level select seamlessly.

The stages looks very artistic, creative, and looks very competitive play through each level without falling off. Great design. 🎉
This game has such a dedicated fan base; can't wait for Super Monkey Ball Retro to come out!

1:06:00 Fallout Zone...
*IS THAT A WIPEOUT REFERENCE?*
Or Total Wipeout as it's known in the UK, but yes.

Even if it's true, they are obliged to do something after the failure or Banana Blitz HD.
20:02 That guillotine is designed to launch you extremely fast, right?
54:59 shoulda pressed that last button lmao
these are super well-designed levels!
Oh no, not another mod pack I gotta try and speedrun lmao

The coding is so advanced, even the difficulty ratings are customized.
Someone noticed!
and they added their own custom world titles too
Bites did that with Super Monkeyed Ball as well, but this is the first time difficulty ratings were customized
17:52 reminds me of Roblox obstacle courses
Funny. I thought the music for this game was from Ninja Gaiden.
34:40 You went trough that wall, wtf
This pack is so good but certain levels like Phantasm suck and really kill the enjoyment
Does anyone know what the secret button does on 7-6?
You'll need to Master things if you want the answer
How do you play as a different character in Story Mode? (Send Help)
Only some rom hacks have that option. Not the normal game, unfortunately.
@@scrap651 I know that the normal game doesnt have it so how can I get the Rom hack?

Why the fuck was Master 1 a rickroll?
Is this in nintendont?
Ok, I’m not sure how to get nintendont though.
