12:55 I love "hes just making zealots now because he knows dragoons will be so much weaker" only to immediately zoom in on the rebuilding cyber core making it impossible for him to build dragoons lol
My friend recently got me into Brood War. He had me play SC2 first and i had fun, but theres something about brood war that i love so much. I only have about 50 apm but i love watching pros
SC2 was great at one time, but almost every game is basically the same. Brood War's decision making is impactful by comparison and every season brings out totally new and memorable performances.
I can't wait to see the next game between these two! I never liked sports... But You got me acting like those football and soccer fans for Starcraft!! Thanks for the great cast, Artosis!
Going through all your casts - I can't thank you enough for posting all of this content. I remember the early days when I had to look for replays to see any games by good players. Keep it going, it's much appreciated!
Starcraft will continue to grow so long as our main man artosis keeps supplying great casts and making this great game accessible to watch for all us players who used to play and still love the game
What an insane game. I love that Jaedong is getting back to the level he was known for, Snow is an absolute beast, so seeing J play with this strength is really nice. Can't wait to see the rest of the series. Love your casting artosis, keep it up!
That was such a sick game. I really love playing the Hydra Lurker style Jaedong has here. It feels so much fun to constantly be throwing entire groups of Hydra Lurker at your enemies, and just grind them down with sheer numbers, and a superior economy. Thanks for the cast! Looking forward to the next two games here
I notice that in this game and quite a few other games where pro Zerg players win, the comp is very hydra heavy. I've seen quite a few games where they go heavier on lurkers only to lose them to psi storm or reavers. I bet Artie has some statistics about optimal split ratio of hydras to lurkers in your army.
Ive never seen an arty cast where he is so pumped up seemingly the entire fight 15:00 this was a very fierce battle which i dont see very often between pros. Arty was very hyped up as well 18:15 that was a very cartoonish probe death Also i just realized that if jaedong had mixed in speedlings instead of pure mass hydra he would’ve had the upper hand in a lot of those exchanges
Interesting comments around the 2:15 mark; just anecdotally, we are kind of hitting a point where some older gamers are kind of just "settling" on older titles instead of chasing the newest stuff out there. Nostalgia is a factor, but also I think it's that gaming has now been mature for long enough that we have for quite some time been at the point where newer games are certainly different, but not necessarily more enjoyable. It's gotten very pronounced in our local fighting game community, particularly with the older anime gamers, where we just haven't been picking up the newer games much at all for many years. A big part of it is just like you said, "there will never be another game like this made". For people who like the design of older games, which often includes a lot of unintentional craziness that in modern "live service" games ends up getting patched out before it can really get explored, there's kind of a feeling that you might as well just invest more in older titles because a lot of that stuff just isn't going to happen again.
I think this game shows beautifully why you can't let zerg have nice things. you gotta be on top of those insects, else they just run away with the game. Jaedong and Snow were basically equal in supply the entire game; which, as Arty pointed out, is actually a huge advantage for the zerg due to supply-cheap units like hydras, zerglings and scourge vs all of protoss being 2 supply units. Snow held on impressively well, but besides that one small speedlot attack and a small push to JD's third base, he literally could mount no attacks on the zerg. The fact that Jaedong never even went Hive, despite being able to quite comfortably, also speaks miles. Very impressive games from both players, even if the match from a top down perspective was kinda onesided.
When you consider Protoss has 10% faster probes and their unit production building the Gateway is twice faster and twice cheaper than Zerg Hatchery, you start asking questions why Protoss does not gain map control early game.
Protoss does, that's why he was able to move 4 zealots to the other side of the map, jaedong slowed him down enough to make enough lings to kill them and once the extra hatches finished the game was done. If toss tries to expand to a third earlier than they did I'm pretty sure it just dies to the left over lings.
Dude, this match was SO COOL to watch~. It felt so "cinematic." The high value, high skilled Protoss aliens facing down multiple hordes of Zerg. But, still falling. SO COOL to watch~!
What a great game, beautiful storms, endless zerg swarm, great stuff!! "Snow holds on to fight again another day, but that other day, is the SAME day." Epic
Speaking of hiding units behind buildings: I hid a ghost behind a refinery and locked down an arbiter trying to recall, lol. It's a great bait if you ever find yourself in a rare game that lets you use ghosts. Works every time because it looks like an undefended base
1:35 was getting the rts itch the past couple months. i never played broodwar, but watching these casts of your break down and narrating of the overaching meta really wants me to try brood war. I was a warcraft 2 and warcraft 3 kid. loved WoL, but got bored of the direction of the game late in the life of hots. been debating getting the protoss single player campaign on sc2 just to play through it. Might check this out, but the AMP and existing knowledge gap seems really hard to get into playing.
Everytime Zerg is able to add a ton of macro Hatches early in PvZ, it feels like it's a guaranteed win. I'd love to see the stats on macro hatch timing versus Zerg winrate.
At lower levels where zergs don’t know how to sim city their expansions this greed just leads to them dying to basic zealot attacks but yeah at the highest levels zvp is heavily considered Zerg favoured
Ok Hydra + Muta seems very strong because it forces Archons which suck against Hydras and you lose 2 Templars which are supposed to counter Hydras. I guess we should see that a lot more
Jaedong is just insanely strong right now. Was watching his stream a few days ago, he beat Best, Mini and soma in proleague. And probably more but I didn't finish watching the vod.
Snow loose the cyber : "you can see right now Snow is only making zealot because there is no point of getting those dragons out"... Is that really the reason?
even with how advantaged zerg was, that one fight with poor positioning and good storms was like 250% cost efficient for protoss. There's a reason jaedong was being so surgical with his engagements despite knowing he was probably ahead. Storms be scary.
If you're an aspiring player, know that the future of this game is WIDE open. Everyone thinks the Koreans are just better than everyone, but as a former Tekken player I assure you they can be broken. Just look at what the Pakistanis did in that game.
Well, you need not look any further than SC2, which in its early days was indeed dominated by Koreans, but right now the largely uncontroversially the best player is Serral, and while ratings aren't necessarily the absolute truth, the latest Aligulac rankings have Clem and MaxPax at #2 and #3 respectively (covering all of the three races).
@@Birdhatter I failed to produce any offspring, however had I been successful, indeed there would be some fine young StarCraft players climbing the ranks. Perhaps it's not too late, and one day, the tearful parent screaming Korean during the ASL Finals could be me. Although learning Korean might take longer than manufacturing a child at this point.
Love artosis casts, but do you think it would be possible to have multiple games in one video? I like watching these as a I fall asleep and having to hear adds and click multiple videos is really annoying
Artosis is very convinced 2:01 about no other or similar game to SC 1 will be produced in near future. Why is so? What makes SC BW stand alone from other RTS or rather modern RTS games?
I got pretty good at melee back in the day, never again though. I found it way too stressful playing 1v1 much because I had to fully focus on the game and it felt intense can't even smoke aha so I would never play more than 1 or 2 in a row, to get really good I would of lost all my hair or something. The feeling of winning after a intense game was great but not sure the process was worth it lol
19:37 "but that other day - IS THE SAME DAY" got me laughing pretty good
That was an awesome line from RT
I'm Mr. Crowbar and this is my friend - WHO IS ALSO A CROWBAR!
I saw this comment before I watched the video and was so confused xD
Artosis: zooms in and watched 2 drones die
Also Artosis: "there wasnt a single drone kill!"
"He lives to fight another day, but this other day is today." 😂
Cracked me up lmfao
It's the SAME DAY
Best line in all of ArtosisCasts
Classic

i only watch... even though i had the original game when it came out all those decades ago
The balance might be an explicit hot mess, but SC2's balance is a hot trainwreck.@@tastethejace
SC2 was great at one time, but almost every game is basically the same. Brood War's decision making is impactful by comparison and every season brings out totally new and memorable performances.
@@tastethejace sc2 also has this ugly cartoon style and worse sound design as well.
I can't wait to see the next game between these two! I never liked sports... But You got me acting like those football and soccer fans for Starcraft!! Thanks for the great cast, Artosis!
You forgot to say "Hi guys, our toast is here" in the beginning!
“….lives to fight another day. But that other day, is the same day!” 😂 brilliant stiff artosis
I see a Snow game, I watch. I also hear his evil laughing.

So comforting that no matter how many things change in my life, Artosis will still be casting Starcaft.

Never forget zerglings
Sometimes even pros forget the bread and butter zerg unit that scales so well with adrenal and evo chamber

You ever give it a shot? It's a very hard game. You have a better chance of becoming a Chess master then a pro Starcraft player.
You guys are getting the same July vs Rock vibes, lol!
"but that other day - Is the same day"!- artosis 2023 , speaking facts!
Really enjoy the high level casts, its like we get to watch ASL every day.
I just realized that watching in 240p basically turns remastered graphics into classic. Go figure.
"It has become completely obvious there will never be another game like Brood War" Challenge accepted! BRB 5 years.
Getting an ad for Super Mario rpg before video starts.. Thought this was a safe space! My mind will now be playing tts while I'm watching.

i have to agree with you RT. brood war could totally come back. it will never be replaced.
that last storm was done out of spite lol
Brood War is the best game and Esport ever, Artosis is the best commentator/caster ever.
Beautiful game with an unorthodox opening.
Ok Hydra + Muta seems very strong because it forces Archons which suck against Hydras and you lose 2 Templars which are supposed to counter Hydras. I guess we should see that a lot more

I would love to see Snow play COrsair reaver some time 😀
What this man is able to do with reavers is just unreal.
Thanks so much! I love watching Snow! starcraft 1 is so fucking good because of yall

im surprised he didnt see the first 2 drones getting killed
Are the ramps on this space map supposed to just be wooden planks lol
From what I've seen in the broodwar videos in this channel - I get the impression that the state of balance is "zerg wins"...

Thanks for the content brother 🙏🏻 love it all. Do you know if these pros play on StarCraft remastered or the original?
There was a drone killed at ~ 6:20 ... at least one.
2:00 💯
12:27 legendary
Love the content. Love that you will never stop.
Oh yeah baby. The best type of mornings start here.
Thanks for the casts
Jaedong vs Snow three days in a row, RT you the man!!!
Well, a really delicious PvZ. Looking for the next matchs for sure.
Oh boy, this is gonna be a wonderful one!
What an amazing hold by Snow ...crazy
Zerg lose 3 drone from that zelots run and Arti say no DRONE LOSE!
Love artosis casts, but do you think it would be possible to have multiple games in one video? I like watching these as a I fall asleep and having to hear adds and click multiple videos is really annoying
wtf was the drone kill on the probe. its like the drone never stopped
Love this matchup. Favorite Protoss vs Favorite Zerg.
Hey Artoshish, you think you can analyze Z openers and timings a little more indepth, I would like to climb out of E rank :)
I wish RT ended this cast by imitating Snow's evil laugh lol
Jaedong proved that Hydra is the backbone unit of any Zerg army
Unless mirror match.
I think Snow has the best storms in the game... but painful to see a HT deficiency _and_ 600+ gas in the bank!
where do you get these replays if i may ask?
That other day is the same day 😂
Snow's core dies: well without range he won't want to build goons
Also he literally can't :)
Yet another great scbw cast by the man himself
Our cup runneth over.
Very intense game!
that was a crazy game
Woohoo, modern nostalgia!
This match was amazing !
1:21 I can reinstall the BW but my ultimate goal would be to become B ranked protoss
Why didn't Sn0w just go mass scouts 😂
