The fact your so deep in bear country in the fall in September hiking by yourself is honestly impressive, I hope you keep bear mase on you easily accessible for these videos brother, keep em coming, love the videos!
Stay Spicy brother. You certainly skied that September not-so-much pow. You hiked and earned those ridiculous turns and enjoyed the mountain along the way. Can't wait to enjoy your actual videos as mother nature brings her glory here soon.
On the bright side you didn't have to carry skis and boots on that hellacious hike...also, on the bright side your ability to maintain a positive spirit when "the discovery" was made is noteworthy, James. You must be in legendary condition. Let's go winter!

That was absolutely the funniest thing I have seen this year, The decent was epic. Couldn’t stop laughing. I died a little inside when you first said you didn’t have your skis. The decision to forge forward the best you could was the right call. Hell yes those count. If you are standing on snow, with shit strapped to your feet, and the slide in some fashion that gets your ass down without breaking yourself- that in my book is skiing. ⛷️

🤣😂 surprised to see you in my comment section. I don’t sled, but huge thanks to all involved in building the hut. It’s pretty amazing that people are willing to spend time and money to keep others safe in the community. Excited to see what you get up to this winter Matt 🤟
Nice, I’m almost on 48 months here in Colorado. Definitely a lot easier by you all with the glaciers! We do not have any real ones and the snow patches that stay around all year keep getting smaller.
I climbed Mt Garibaldi in 1979 or 1980 -- climbed from sea level -- it was pretty tuff in fog clouds and rain -- but still a fun memory 44 or 45 years later
I've heard it's possible to see Mt.Rainier from Mt. Garibaldi, but so far no body has ever taken a picture of Mt. Rainier from there yet. I know you were close here, even if you weren't high enough, and it wasn't clear enough if you were. Congratulations for finding snow to ski South West B.C. in September!
I bet you could see Rainier from the top on the right day. Would be absolutely epic. I was too busy staring at the patch of snow to pay attention to the views.
I had a dream tonight. You were doing a singing gig at a bar. And I came by to say hi and to ride ski together afterwards. As you know, since it’s a dream, my time awareness wasn’t even making sense. I weren’t doing the math correctly. Even a super early bar gig usually doesn’t ends before 7pm. And, whistler is closed after 5pm. I knew it was a dream when I realized things like that didn’t make sense. That’s a one funny dream if you ask me.
Count that as skiing all day every day brother. "Skiing: the art of catching cold and going broke while rapidly heading nowhere at great personal risk. ~Author Unknown"

Man… if I had forgotten my skis I would’ve sat there and cried until I stopped feeling sorry for myself, then drive to the nearest drive thru and eat my way out of my depression then gone home.
Yes, I'd recommend heading east to the koots or rockies, finding a "safe glacier" (one you know well, or has crevasse free areas you can stick to), waiting for new snow to fall, and hitting it before it melts for September turns But that's a long drive and not risk free, so I can understand the rogue snowpatch method
Driving an hour and realizing you don’t have the thing you needed is the most relatable thing I’ve seen on the internet all month.
I do it once every year... Skis and boots though. Still beating myself up over it hahaha

@riseandalpine Or NZ. 40cms today and still a week to go in our season.
@@riseandalpine please don't. Flying planes and emitting loads of CO2 kills glaciers, and snow
When you said I forgot the skis, I thought the twist would be - but hey I found 2 peaces of wood in the forest :)
That would have been awesome! Planks of wood might have worked better than the mini skis
Those mini skis suck because there's no ankle support. Even snow blades would have been better.
