the added safety is not worth their cost over the game. they get picked off easily cause they are slow and air units, they require more starports with reactors, they have to be babysitted which makes the army harder to control, and they cost supply. using scans and missile turrets only costs minerals, requires no babysitting, creates choke points and buffers for the army, gives you more mules, and allows for a higher army supply cause less scvs are needed. it clearly is the superior choice over all. if he was constantly replacing ravens, he would have lost earlier cause his army was smaller and he could not keep up with the trading. serral already traded evenly with less cost effective units, so loosing ravens would have made it much worse, and the scans and turrets worked out during the entire game except for the last fungal, which he could have prevented if he scanned one more time, or if there were just a few more or differently placed widow mines to intercept enough banelings. it worked well for him, he just slipped up eventually after getting them right for all game.
Its only worth it to make Raven when you go for BC-Mech composition, because you will use the starport to make more BC. Otherwise its a waste of production to just make 2 Raven, and then has to swap out for reactor.

It's hard to comment on who got buffed more. In the TvZ or PvZ matches, if you dominated the Zerg in the early game, then eventually you win the match. If you let the Zerg comfortably enter the mid-late game, then high probability that you will lose. When Zerg gets to their infamous "iron bank" at this stage, it is almost impossible to defend against one thousand Banelings rolling (Shift + A) into your bases. However, if you manage to drag them to the late game and successfully wave off the Swarm, then eventually, Zerg runs out of gas, and you may get your chance. But that "If" is when you are Maru or someone of that caliber though. Protoss, on the other hand, does not have the mechanism to survive against Zerg in late game because the Nexuses are easily broken with almost no "rescue" method facing Banes or cracked Lings (while Terran CC can lift up or be mass repaired or shoot them with splash damage as Planetary fortress and Terran tends to build many CCs as replacements for scans and mules)
Its also interesting how Queen that can Inject, heal, spread creep and defend with decent HP only has the same supply as a Helion and cost 1.5 times as much.
@@ianwhitchurch864 And you see Lib/Ghost boosting the economy of Terran? or can heal mech units? Obviously they do NOT have the same role, but the impact of Queen is far higher than Lib/Ghost. Is this caster not aware of the video where the guy breaks down the win rates of all pros. Serral is the undisputed goat and its not even remotely close
The guy who did that video failed to mention the "Strength of competition" factor. If you swap Maru and Serral region, where Maru only had to play with Clem, who he still own the head to head, and Reynor who he still has a winning record against. And Serral gotta play with Rogue-Dark-Solar in ZvZ at every single GSL, and see how their win rate will be impacted. Serral probably has better winrate in international competition over Maru as well, but its not as lopsided if you take away the regional competition factor.

amazing games. It seems that in the first game Corruptor cleared out the liberators well

I miss these kinds of games where both players invest in sky units. The determinant of the victories were based on sky superiority
Well.. AND superior positioning
maru’s planetary micro at 43:20 is pretty sick
22:16 nice supply for Maru btw
Burrowed units have way to much vision
yeah, Infestor burrow has slightly less vision than Observer and both requires scan to get clean up.

GG WP between the two biggest titans of SC2!
