I just noticed something minor about the akali animation. When she swipes the camera at the beginning, it leaves a wet place with drops but as the scene progresses and the camera keeps switching from akali to eve, you can see the wet spot starting to dry untill it's not there at the final shot!
maaan....i just hope the crew behind the animation gets paid well. it is too clean and complex. ok a bit clunky sometimes..but still it is beautiful to watch. also, the montage with the transitions from different stages is gold.
The choreography is supposed to look sharp and jagged, especially with the part where they go into a half-squat and start doing those chest pumps. It's just a very different dancing style compared to POP/STARS and the two studios have different cinematography styles.
And also at late 2:05 to 2:06 before figure turn to white object , that remind me of how rough quality of the latest opening ceremony animation is. Edited . I didnt blame them , It because Covid that ppl having a hard time
The problem with the models in the opening was bad rigging. It was rushed. Even in More the models weren't probably rigged, that's why Pop/Stars was smoother. In PS the models were rigged properly and as you saw only needed about three to four layers of animation. More needed more than 4 layers of animation. Probably 5, 6 or even more. The less animations layers it has, the smoother it gets. Honestly, I don't even know why they chose that animation process for More. Imo, it was a bad choice. The difference between animation studios is easy to see.
Kinda disturbing me that when light is flicking dark , Evelynn just stand still ... i mean that she has no motion between when dancing and going to stay still , if she just slightly move from dancing to crossed arm when lighi is flicking that would be great.
Pretty sure it was meant to look as if they filmed it at 2 different times, one in the dark with Akali there, and one in the light with only Eve there, and the footage is just jumping between the 2. I mean obviously they didn’t film twice cos it’s an animation but you get what I mean
her passive makes her invisible and her passive is activated when she avoids combat so it makes sense and a pretty good artistic choice if you ask me, she is supposed to be disturbing and scary
I mean, she is wearing eyeliner (so are Ahri and Akali) (Eve looks kinda weird bc she isn't wearing eyeliner and her eyelashes are not colored). But I agree, she looks better with just the eyeliner.

No it didnt use any mocap. Most animation outside of realistic VFX movies (Like 3D characters in movies like Avengers) or realistic games (Like the last of us) never use motion capture. Cartoony stuff like this is almost ALWAYS all by hand. You have more control and you get a nicer result.

honestly i prefer fortiche's style, the character models looked less stiff and plastic. love evelynn's more model its beautiful but ahri's model ehhhh. but the new animation is much cleaner and high quality. i couldnt imagine them animating arcane, but i cant imagine fortiche animating more. there is very good qualities in both.

yes in pop/stars, they did motion capture. in more MV I'm not sure if they do it or not. but they did motion capture for live performance on worlds 20
